There you are, minding your own business, thinking coffee rides only happen
during the regular school year, when - BAM - coffee ride *summer edition*
hits you square in the face. While similar to their regular season
counterparts, summer edition coffee rides have no rules and can require the
intermittent use of speed, climbing, mountain bikes, and hand-to-hand
combat.
This week will be traditional, but in general I'll let you know what to
expect as follows:
Bike: Road
Terrain: Pavement
Distance: ~20mi
So come on out tomorrow and enjoy the third longest day of the year. Meet
at the PO at 7:15am, roll shortly after.
Do you have the lungs of I'll Have Another, the legs of Tom Boonen, and the
intestinal fortitude of Atilla the Hun? Well, you should consider Ken's
Saturday ride.
Do you have the lungs of the Marlboro man, the legs of a flamenco, and the
intestinal fortitude of Woody Allen? Well, you should probably ride with
me tomorrow morning.
We're easing our way into dirt this week, here're the deets:
In an unprecedented move, the coffee ride is taking a turn for the dirt
tomorrow as we head up to (gasp.dramatic pause. wait for it. crickets. wait
for it.) Skeggs.
"That's not a coffee ride!" you say. Oh how wrong you are, because we'll be
serving up piping hot coffee in the Skeggs parking lot as we gear up to get
dirty.
My car is currently full, so if you want to get some early MTB action in
tomorrow please reply-all to coordinate rides.
Here's what to expect:
Bike: Mountain
Terrain: All dirt
Distance: whatever 1.5 hours of riding amounts to
Meet at the Skeggs parking lot at 7:45am, drink coffee, roll shortly after.
You know I can't miss a coffee ride, especially since they are now crossing the line into total caffeinated absurdity. I'll be headed up in the am and have room for two more people and bikes. Hit me up if you want a lift!

Lovely listless lollygagging through Los Altos tomorrow. Join us for Mo's
last coffee ride (not a biblical thing - she's just leaving town). We'll
end up at Philz on Middlefield if you can't make the ride but want to stop
by and say bye to Mo.
Taking my favorite dirt route through Los Altos tomorrow - it's healthy mix
of road and trail and will test your mettle on a road bike. Survivors will
be rewarded with coffee. The pace will allow for the deep, meaningful, and
thought provoking conversations you've come to expect from the early Friday
ride (e.g., "Would more people read if Hooters operated public libraries?",
"If you mix peanuts and butter does it make peanut butter?").
Heading out to the wilds of Woodside tomorrow to hunt for Maseratis and
scavenge for loose hundos. Canyon Coffee Roastery will provide the fuel you
need your ass back to work, or school, or vacation, or whatever else it is
you do on Friday.
