An email advertising tomorrow's outdoors session will come out soon, I'm
sure.
Fitness: ATTENTION:
This session is NOT based on sprints/ endurance, rather technique and
personal assessment. If you're a bit overwhelmed by the thought of fitness,
or if you've been put off in the past, this is a good session to try. You
won't finish up gasping for air and feeling as though you've run a 10k
(unless you want to, of course, which I do).
After a warm up we're going to do a series of short speed drills. This
involves the '7 second drill' and the 'alternating 7 second drill' which
will assess the effectiveness of one's maximal speed. It's tailored to
measure your performance during a point in a game. We'll record our results
and see if we can improve them over time (we'll also measure a few of the
other sets we've been doing to date). If anyone has a stop watch, this
would be very useful.
We'll do some plyos with resistance- this should be a bit of a laugh
looking at the things I have lined up. :)
Finally, we'll try a bit of agility. So far we've only really been messing
about with ladders and incorporating some agility in to other drills. My
research tells me 'random' is best, rather than repeating different
movements. So, we'll try a bit of an agility assault course and make it a
bit more formal. If anyone has anything they'd like to try, please let me
know!
Sprints and maximal performance will follow for those who are feeling 'hard
core'.
