I realize SQLBuddy is no longer actively developed... I would like to
say to Calvin that this tool is WAY more user friendly than
phpMyAdmin...

I've been thinking about building a debian package for SQLBuddy and
make it available as part of the Debian Packages list for everyone to
install via Debian's built in package manager aptitude.... (apt-get
install sqlbuddy)...

I was wondering if I could have permission to package SQLBuddy up and
make available on as many linux distro's as possible... With the open
source community as active and readily available it might save the
project from abandonware....

SQL Buddy is under a MIT license so you can do almost anything you
want with it. You can fork the project or redistribute it or whatever
you want. I even saw a web hosting company that was using SQL Buddy as
a database manager for their clients but they had replaced my logo
with their company logo. Which is fine. The goal of the project is to
get a decent app into the hands of as many people as possible. So I
would love it if you would create packages for different
distributions. The only port that I aware of is for FreeBSD:

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=126646

I'm not sure if that is the same thing that you are talking about.
Anyways, have fun.

Thanks Calvin...

I've gone ahead and packaged it up and submitted it to
Launchpad.net.... maybe we can push for it to be a standard web
package available in the next release of Ubuntu.... I'm also going to
be giving the deb package to the Debian folks...

To add this to any Ubuntu server....

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gabereiser/sqlbuddy

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install sqlbuddy

This will automatically install apache2 (if not already installed) and
will create a default conf file pointing to sqlbuddy installation....

SQLBuddy is installed at /usr/share/sqlbuddy

The apache.conf file declares the default url as <servername>/sql....

Thanks for making a great product...
