Boot from thumbdrive or cdrom and scan?

I think boot from thumbdrive or cdrom before scanning, would be a
good idea, if it could be done.
1) No worries about malware starting during bootup.
2) Bootup could be faster.
3) You would not have to install/update spybot, or whatever, since it
would already be on the thumbdrive.
Does this make sense? Can this be easily done? What OS would be best... more »

All,
My mother-in-law is receiving popups that she has viruses, trogans
etc... on her computer and the only way to remove these files is to
purchase a product called Malware Catcher 2009 (also as a popup). She
has Norton installed (and recently purchased an upgrade) and they want

message " I DNT HATE MOZILLA BUT USE IE OR ELSE ".
It has closed when i click on OK button and mozilla has closed.
