Subject: Sproutcore DC Meetup - Questions

Hey SCers,

I'm really excited as the time is quickly approaching for when we scheduled
the DC meetup, and I was wondering if any more information has been
finalized, and to ensure that we are still having it. If so, could we make
a blog post about it? It's hard to buy plane tickets and book hotel rooms
if we're not sure where we're meeting and such.

Information that I'd like to see:

   1. When & Where
   2. Who all plans to attend? This could be done via a meetup.com group or
   something.
   3. Will there be particular speakers? If so, what are the topics?
   4. What are the goals of the meetup?
   5. Who is in charge? Who should we direct questions to and such?

Now, normally, I would volunteer to be the go-to person and try to get this
organized, but seeing as I have very few details about the meetup, I've
never even been to DC, I still don't know everyone in the SC community, and
I'm not even 100% sure if I can attend; I'm a little hesitant to take on
that kind of responsibility.

However, if someone else has the details, I would be more than happy to
write up a blog post and/or create a site for announcements and such.

Thanks so much guys! I look forward to meeting you in-person!

P.S. If we're having difficulty scheduling it, or anything like that, would
it be best to reschedule for a date a little bit further out? Has anyone
already booked plane tickets/accommodations? Am I just late to the party
:-D ?

Funny you should mention meetup.com. Evin had just posted an entry
there this morning. For those who are interested, and haven't already,
please go ahead and register:

Now the meeting is over....

Did anyone perhaps take notes? It would be very useful to be able to
debate certain things and to enable the people of the community who
couldn't attend have their say about things?

It would be really useful to have some kind of list of the round up at
the end where the audio cut out.
Something like a list of decisions and why they were taken.

Thanks!

Maurits

Oops, I meant to delete an email on this topic, but sent an empty message by accident, after I couldn't decide what to say. Comical, yes, but illustrative of the frustration I am feeling, which relates to what I perceive as misrepresentations about what we did in the meeting. I think it is a good idea for me to shut up though, until the meeting organizers and Tyler have had a chance to attempt a fair representation, if they want to try.

Oh, there is something general I can offer about minutes. A good minutes-taker writes up "who said what" and also tries to represent differing viewpoints in a kind of matter-of-fact style, with care given for topics for which the minutes-taker doesn't agree. I've seen the anal-rententive "Joe you didn't have to write _everything_ down" style, to the style that is so broad-brush as to gloss over key details and dissenting opinion. Minutes are normally shared for a time, then there is a time for expressing corrections and objections. Then there is a call to approve the minutes, or amendments. I don't know if we should try this now, but you might see the need that we start in the future. :)
