So basically spree-more would behave like a fully functional real
world site. We'd make some choices about what extensions to include
(those can be debated at a later point) and we'd actively maintain it.
In addition to being a "reference application" of sorts there would
be two other benefits
1.) Users could clone the spree-more project directly if they agreed
with most of the "opinions" that went into it
2.) We could also use it to test upgrades in the upcoming versions of
Spree. We could probably uncover a lot of the gotchas and write some
nice upgrade instructions by simply trying to upgrade spree-more right
before a new release.
Like I said, this is something I've been toying with for a while so
I'm glad to hear others are interested. We already have somone to
sponsor the hosting (Webbynode) and I'm in talks with another party to
help fund the design an coding effort.
So this is on the very short list. Hopefully to start no later then August.
