Hello Guinea Pig Sponsors!
I. Present totals/a year of progress
II. Losses
III. August's piggy!
IV. Thank you from Barack (the piggy :)
V. See you next month!
I. Happy August to everyone! SAGP is turning one year old (and I'm turning 25!). In one year we have helped 15 piggies, and created a tremendous awareness of special needs guinea pigs, as well as rescues. Way to go team! We've raised $
4,115.96!! We've developed a Facebook and Twitter page, and reached a large audience with a mission of rescue and love-we've really reiterated the power of a dollar in a time when it seems to be losing its value more than ever before.
SAGP may be a movement for small animals, but it sure is large! If you have a social issue that concerns you as well, I encourage you to try the model that SAGP has developed. Start up costs were zero, and look at the results! I wish anyone luck if they wish to try a similar endeavour.
II. Losses:Some recent losses: We lost Peaches about a month ago. She is SAGP's poster pig and was featured in December, and was just the loveliest girl around. I will not be changing the icon featuring Peaches's photo, as she largely inspired SAGP.
Misha, the adorable PEW peruvian who was featured in April 2009, has also passed on. She was a beautiful girl with the most amazing temperament, and we extend our condolences to
Small Angels for their loss.
Josh, one half of the March pair, has also passed on. His foster mother and director of
Thistle Cavies is completely devastated, any words of consolation would I'm sure be appreciated.
III. August's pig! Dunkin is about 2.5 years old and super sweet. He arrived at the rescue with internal injuries, a heart condition, and pneumonia. His medical costs since late May are almost $400! To read more about his story, visit
http://sponsoraguineapig.blogspot.com/ . So far we have fundraised $126, which is over half way to our goal!
IV. Thank you letter from Mary, with Cavy Companions:
"My sincere thanks to all of you who donated to Barack's ongoing care. Of the Special Needs guinea pigs I take care of, Barack is my Special Little Boy. Thanks to your help I will do everything possible to give him a great life.
Mary Lawson
Cavy Companions "
And a big thank you from me to everyone who donated toward Barack!
V. Well, we'll see you next month with a very special piggy (details not yet released-but I promise, you'll love him-i!) Have a great rest of the month, and for all of you returning to school, enjoy yourselves!
