V. Suggestions for Adopt a Guinea Pig Month?
I. Even though the paper hearts have settled, Sponsor a Guinea Pig wishes you a Happy Valentine's Day year round! Hopefully you spent it curled up with the furry ones you love. I also must extend my apologies for sending this month's newsletter so belated-Cupid has been distracting me from my monthly Sponsor a Guinea Pig duties!
Of course there is always good news from the desk of SAGP-I am able to announce our totals so far, an amazing $2049.82! I am just so amazed and happy at the generosity this represents over the last seven months. Sponsor a Guinea Pig truly reaffirms my faith in the power of the individual. Thank you so much, all of you!
II. January's pigs, Jackie and Chester, met their goal with a resounding $281.56! The director of Texas Rustlers has this thank you note to share:
Thank you all so much for your kindness and generosity. Our goal
was reached along with some extra. All of your donations came at the
perfect time to help with Jackie & Chester's most recent dentist
appointment. They are both doing well. Chester had to be placed on
another round of antibiotics due to the ulcers in his mouth. He will
remain on pain meds indefinitely. He has gained 40 grams and is
trucking right along. We are able to continue to provide these little
guys along with all the others the proper care and life style because
of people like you all. Once again thank you.
III. And in a Sponsor a Guinea Pig first, the goal for this month's pig has already been reached before the newsletter went out! That's right,
February's Maddie has already raised
$293 toward her demanding and extensive medical care, otherwise paid for by All Creatures Rescue and Sanctuary. Maddie is a lethal pig, meaning she is blind, deaf, has extensive dental problems, and potentially has digestive issues as well. Maddie requires monthly dental trims, medication, and vet visitations. She was rescued from a shelter in a truly unfortunate plight, and at the shelter they had no concept of her medical needs. Since in the rescue she has received the best of care, and even has a (neutered) boyfriend! To read more about her story and to see her adorable photos, or to consider donating, please read her entry here.
IV. March's pigs Josh and Yetti are with Scottish Rescue Thistle Cavies. Both Josh and Yetti are heart pigs. Josh required extensive surgery for an abscess in his jaw, and the rescue almost lost him. After months of maintaining him with patient care, Josh is now much better, and the rescue is able to focus on his heart issue. Because of the exchange rate concern, we're still figuring out some kinks in how to best utilize donations. At the moment there is a paypal button for dollars and for UK pounds-please email me or leave a comment if you have a question about making a donation of another form. Here is a link to their entry: Josh and Yetti.
V. March is Adopt a Guinea Pig Month! I would love to feature this on the blog in some way. Does anyone have any ideas? Please email any that you might have.
Thank you so much, and see you next month!
