I combined all the state, county, and municipality boundary shapefiles
for a project here. Thought I'd make it available in case anyone
finds it useful, or needs a large set of spatial data to test things
on. Two versions are up - one pretty much as the Census Bureau
releases them, with one state per table/shapefile. The other is the
version we're actually using, with the state tables combined.

Per Census Bureau's website, data not copyrighted, but they prefer
citing. So here it is: All data is from the United States Census
Bureau (http://www.census.gov/geo/www/tiger/tgrshp2011/
tgrshp2011.html).

Thanks for having these files available for download.

I am trying to download one of these files. My mobile internet keep on stopping.

Would it be possible to let us how big are these files so we know what
to expect when we are downloading?

US_TIGER_Combined.sqlite is 770 MB. If it were compressed into zip or 7z
it drops to less than 200 MB.

Often there are several ways to understand a given set of
facts; some of them may be more useful than others.

180MB for Combined and 169 for Boundaries

I'll let the list know if I decide to move those, should be stable for a
few months.

Thanks,
Alex

Good point! I'll compress in the morning. Don't know why I didn't
think of it
