... in 2001 when I saw them at Club Quattro in Tokyo.  I have been a
fan ever since.  I now own most of their back catalogue.

I first got into them when I was about 7 or 8....I should point out
that I'm old as the first thing I ever heard by Sparks was a lovely
little track called 'Wonder Girl' which was being played on Radio
Luxembourg.  Next thing I heard was 'This Town...'  and if I was
completely hooked!  Have been ever since....

I got into Sparks when I married a Sparksfan 20 years ago! We had a
babysparks who is actually 19 years old (Ladygodiva!) and I organized
the first Sparks fans convention in France in 2005.
I saw them live for the first time in 2004, at the RFH and I was
completly hooked too! Sparks is just the greatest band in the world...

I saw Sparks on TV - Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.  Must have been 1974.
Then I saw them live at a small 500 seat theater near Allentown, Pa.
(they actually played two nights which was unheard of back then!)  It
was the Propaganda tour.  The show opened with the stage completely
dark ... A spotlight hits Russell, who's way off to the right side of
the stage.  He sings (a cappella - of course) Propaganda.  When he gets
to the part "Fight on, fight on, over there" he points to Dinky who
starts the drum opening to Talent is an Asset.  What a cool way to open
the show!

I have told this story so many times.... Hopefully not to the same
people I'm telling it to now.

When I was ten years old, I was being indoctrinated into the world of
progressive rock by my older brother.  I was excited about bands like
ELP & Jethro Tull.  One Saturday morning, we were watching Don
Kirschner's Rock Concert (the San Diego station played reruns, I
never understood the time slot).  I saw Sparks, and was instantly a
fan.

I went out and bought every album of theirs I could find (with the help
of my mother, since I obviously couldn't drive).  By this time Big
Beat had been released, with a New Years' Eve show scheduled for the
Santa Monica Civic Center, near L.A.  My parents reluctantly agreed to
take me and an older acquaintance.   The opening act was relatively
unknown at the time:  Van Halen.  The middle act was Flo & Eddie.
Sparks came out a few seconds past midnight.  They did the standard Big
Beat set with one twist:  A rock 'n roll version of Auld Lang Syne.

I saw the band about a dozen times after that, but I remember that show
the best.  I'm 42 now, and still a fan.

I first got into Sparks when I saw them on TOTP in 1974 - I was still
only very young and I think I was still at primary school.  They were
performing TTABEFBOU.  I can clearly remember seeing this quite
handsome curly haired guy singing in the most extraordinary voice
whilst a Hitler lookalike played the keyboards.  I couldn't keep my
eyes of the TV and from then on, I was completely hooked and still am.
The best group that ever was, ever is and ever will be.
