When will Spanning Sync make available, the ability to sync my Gmail
contacts with the Mac Address Book?

I would gladly upgrade my subscription for this feature.

...any news Charlie?

As soon as we have something to announce, you'll be the first to
know. :-)

Thanks,

I just spent an hour deleting 1,000 gmail contacts since they by
default capture all non-spammy emails, but also trap directions and
other junk. Problem, you can only delete 20 email addresses at a time,
FAIL.

Yeah, deleting lots of contacts in the Gmail interface is a huge pain.
Mass-selecting them and deleting in Address Book then syncing the
changed to Google is much better. :-)

Will the contact syncing work for Google Apps users as well?

Yes, it will. In fact, we're doing most of our development and testing
against a Google Apps domain.

Thanks,
Charlie

Is that possible with the currently available version? We converted
our company calendar to Google Apps, which totally hosed my syncing
because Google doesn't allow you to share a calendar with someone
outside the domain. Previously I was (and still am) syncing iCal to
my personal calendar, and my user account was also given shared access
to the company calendar. But once we made the transition that no
longer worked. I'm willing to just move my personal calendar onto the
company calendar if Spanning Sync works with Google Apps.

Yes, Spanning Sync works with Google Apps. And the good news is that
Google Apps does allow you to share calendars with people outside your
domain--your domain admin just has to enable it. Just have him/her go
to Service Settings > Calendar > Sharing Options and choose "Share all
information, and outsiders can change calendars".

Thanks,
Charlie

Will contacts sync be included as a feature in my $25/year
subscription? or will it be treated as an add-on, or separate solution
all-together?

Henry,

Contact syncing will be included with your existing subscription.
Since Spanning Sync is a subscription service, all updates are
included in the cost.

Cheers

When I saw the video this morning, I was more than prepared to
purchase a whole new subscription for this. I couldn't believe when I
heard you guys say it would be a free upgrade for paid subscribers.
WOW.

So, I guess rather than buy a whole new subscription, it's time for me
to purchase subscriptions for my Pop and my Wife. They really didn't
need calendar syncing, but contact syncing is worth the lifetime
subscription fee all on it's own, and that they need.

I can't count the number of times my Pop has abused his address book
and lost data. No longer a problem if you ask me.

Douglas,

Thanks! We're hoping to have a public beta within two weeks or so. The
final release date will depend on how smoothly the beta goes.
