Hi Lauren! maybe you should try SyncMate? I use this tool for Mac -
Google sync and it works fine for me. It syncs Mac Contacts and iCal
with Google for free so you can download its Free Edition and try it.

Okay, new to spanning sync ical to either web gmail calendar or droid.

Spanning sync signs in to gmail fine, identifies various google
calendars - but won't sync to them. Syncs contacts fine. I did the
advance function to wipe out all google info on the first sync, tried
it twice but still no luck. No ical events or calendars info shows up

I'm sorry this tripped you up. It's one of the first things we mention
in the "Calendars" section of the user's guide ("Calendar pairs are
always one-to-one…").

Syncing more than one calendar is the reason for trying spanning sync.
You could have saved me the time wasted in setting it up and testing
by making this clear on the front page.

I'm very sorry to hear that--how incredibly frustrating!

It seems there are two things to be done: first, to see if your data
can be recovered, and second, to determine with certainty that
Spanning Sync deleted it so we can prevent the same thing from
happening to other users.

Please immediately create a problem report (Advanced > Create report)

Spanning Sync just deleted all my work I have done for the last hour.

I had a lot of patience with this product and in general it works
great. But now I had to do some tedious work to put together a
timeline for a conference and after copying events and then changing
them, all by a sudden things are completely screwed up.

Oops, I mis-stated this slightly. Apple syncs the "classification"
property, but always syncs it as "public".

I don't think Apple reads Google's feature requests :-)

Hey Tom,

Unfortunately Apple doesn't allow syncing of the "classification"
property for calendar events, so they're all synced to Google as
"public" by default. I'm not sure if this equates to "guest can edit"
or not, but newly synced events will generally just inherit the
default behavior of the calendar.

I refresh this thread, as I still have problems syncing alarms between
gCal and iCal using Spanning Sync v 3.0.3. Any input from the spanning
sync crew would be nice.

Hi,

Spanning Sync doesn't sync with Entourage directly. Spanning Sync
syncs with Apple Sync Services. It sounds like Entourage is still
syncing with Apple Sync Services even though you no longer use it so
you'll want to open Entourage and turn off syncing in its preferences.

One way to do this is to create a calendar for all events in ical and
always copy events to it when creating new ones. Then sync this with
one google calendar to use for sharing. However, I do hope as well
that apple sync starts to support calendar groups as this is a
headache.

I can't speak about the license issue. Someone else will have to
answer about using spanning sync on multiple macs to one Google
account.

However, MobileMe syncs more than just calendar and address book; and
spanning sync doesn't synchronise absolutely everything. For example,
MobileMe will also sync safari bookmarks, ToDos and RSS feeds.
