Success all day, now nothing

I've been happily trying to get my calendars synced up all day (bar
the odd beta bug). Now, I find that one of my calendars won't sync
down from Gcal at all. I rebooted, went back in to prefs, deleted and
replaced my credentials and reset the sync match-ups again. Now when I
click Sync Now, nothing happens and the operation stops immediately
after the sync dial flashes up momentarily. Is your server down or is
it a prob at my end? Any ideas please?

Okay, I can now get the sync operation running, but...
1) that one calendar (out of 21) just refuses to come down to iCal.
2) and, another entry I modified the title of in iCal, in a separate
calendar - the modification did not make its way to Gcal; in fact, the
local iCal title reverted to the earlier-synced version from Gcal.

And I'm still getting category names listed as unconfirmed invitees.

Such a shame. I was going great guns :(
