I have two Macs - a laptop and a desktop. I am syncing iCal and
Address Book between both of them using Mobile Me. Do I need to
install Spanning Sync on both machines? Should I NOT install Spanning
Sync on both machines? (will it mess things up if i do?)

My concern is for when I go traveling. I would like my Google and
iCal/Address Book data to continue syncing while I am out of town -
but I normally do not leave my desktop computer turned on when I'm out
of town (my desktop is where I currently have Spanning Sync
installed).

Help/advice/suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi dburr!

why don't you try Syncmate? This tool allows syncing you mac with
mobile devices, other mac or pc computers, Google account, Sony PSP
and online storage absolutely for free (free edition includes contacts
and calendar sync). I use it for a long time and it works great for
me. I haven't upgraded yet as I need contact and Calendar sync only,
but as far as I know, expert edition offer addition aloption. You can
check this tool at their website

Hi

I have the same issue and the same question.

Right now I am not looking for recommendations for other products BUT
how I would keep two Macs synced.

Specifically, it is actually Entourage I want to keep synced with
Google Calendar.

I have one Mac working fine, in a couple of clicks BUT how do I keep
Entourage on my OTHER Mac in Sync?

Do I need to install Spanning Sync on both and what the hell happens
if I do??????

I just yesterday found this posting over at the Spanning Sync blog (I didn't know they had a blog...) about this very issue. (funny - why didn't that come up the first time I tried Googling for an answer to this?)

According to this it is perfectly fine to have Spanning Sync running on multiple machines. After backing up my contacts and calendars I tried this and indeed it works just fine with no ill effects.
