Beware cheap plastic

Herein lies a sad tale of sub-standard PLA and the woes it brought on:

Short version: His cheap PLA has tiny ball bearings in it which jammed the extruder!

They don't look like ball bearings - just spherical crud.  It's possible that a lot of cheap filament is run on extruders without filter packs installed.
