The first versions of SoundRTS already guessed the IP address of the
servers using a PHP function. Unfortunately, in some rare cases, the
returned IP address was wrong, and that's why I had to use a web site
like whatismyip.org instead.
Adding this kind of URL in an editable text file might be the thing to
do, or using automatically a PHP script hosted by the metaserver if
whatismyip.org fails.
This reminds me of another serious potential problem. Since the source
code of SoundRTS is not available, I should make sure that if the
metaserver disappeared, it would still be possible for anybody to
define and package a new client that would use another metaserver. I
would include the metaserver files in the usual package. The current
metaserver requires PHP and SQL.
