Rev. Jesse Jackson plans a stay in public housing
(AP) — The Reverend Jesse Jackson says he plans to spend the night in one of Chicago's public housing complexes next week to check out reports that residents are being harassed by police.
Jackson held an afternoon news conference at the Harold Ickes Homes on Chicago's near South Side along with Alderman Pat Dowell and Congressman Danny Davis.
The civil rights activist says several people contend they were wrongly arrested for trespassing, strip searched and otherwise harassed at Ickes Homes.
Jackson says he's trying to draw attention to the situation.
