Seth:
Does this release correct the problem I was having with the Twain scanner?
Tom
______________________________ __
To: sosoft@googlegroups.com
Sent: Wed, December 23, 2009 3:38:19 PM
We have posted the latest and final 2009 update (technically, Release 2009.01.2).
Aside from various little bug fixes, the most significant new feature is support for the optional First Contact module, accessed from the SOS login window. First Contact is our new, user-customizable "intake" module. It will be especially valuable and appreciated by larger organizations where it is desirable to collect information from prospective patients/clients, but not actually create accounts for them in SOS until they actually show up. This module features the new technology you will be seeing in the next generation of SOS, such as highly configurable list windows and forms that you can customize to match your needs. Next month we will be distributing an information package to give you a better overview, and you always can make an appointment for a live demo if you would like to see it in action. The screenshots below are examples, but both of these screens are highly customizable, so your own versions could be set up very differently.

For SOS, I was going to look up in January on Availity to see when the plan renewed. If plan renews 9/1/10, then I was going to put in a "dummy auth" with 99 visits with a term date of 8/31/10 and uncheck mark "include on claims". Then when I run my report for expiring authorizations the prior month, it will be on that report and check availity after 9/1/10 to see if authorization is required. That way I do not have to keep looking in the notes section to see if I have already looked that patient up. Does anyone out there have any better suggestions?

For lack of a better word, this is going to be one major DISASTER.

I did call BCBS since testing does not require authorization, but a 90801 would. So if our MD refers a patient out for testing, the other provider would still need to get authorization for a 90801. I was told that if they issued a 90801 to another provider, that they would VOID the referring physician's authorization for remaining visits. When you call Blue Express, I could find no way to talk to a human being so that the testing provider could request just one visit and not to void the MD's authorization. After my 5th call today to BCBS (I was in a mood), I did get a human who understood the problems and gave me the name and telephone number of the Behavioral Health network manager. Her name is Sandy Sawyer and telephone number is 954-714-3660. But she does not returns calls the same day and I have yet been able to speak with her. I assume she does exist but have not yet been able to prove this.
