I need to group a subset of patients for my provider by where he sees
the patient. He is doing a clinic one day a week that we will be
billing for. The payments will be received in the office but I need to
be able to get data for this subset of patients. Any ideas?
My suggestion is to set up your provider with two different provider
IDs. They can both be linked to the same scheduler by using the same
provider code used for scheduler on the scheduler tab of the provider
in your provider drop down list. For example, we have providers that
performed here in the office but also went out to our local Boy's
Ranch to see kids. Linda would have her office clients under her
provider ID LA and clients under her Boy's Ranch Id of LBR. I could
then print a LA client list and LBR client list as long as I
designated their primary provider properly as LA or LBR. It works
great. We had some providers that used the same Emdeon Provider ID,
tax Id and Supplier. Other's used different info for in office and for the ranch. This works for both scenarios. Hope this helps.

Checks are posted from insurance by carrier, not by provider. Since
some of my providers work for a group, I often receive checks
bundling payments for more than one provider. When I post to Aetna
for example, I pull up all Aetna clients in my drop down list
regardless of the provider they are linked to and can post one check
accordingly to multiple providers. Check posting from a bundled
check is not linked to a specific provider, only a specific insurance
carrier. Creating more than one provider does not affect my check
posting in any way.

I'm not sure I remember this right, but the payments are linked to a given
service, are they not? And the service is linked to a provider. Doesn't
this accomplish the goal of crediting each provider properly?

In reviewing Viken's response, I am second guessing myself and still
assuming that you were questioning posting a bundled check between
two provider IDs. It is also true that a payment is linked directly
to a given service once it is posted and you would have to pull up
two different payroll reports, one for each provider ID, it you are
adding up income for the provider with two IDs. Hopefully, that
would not be too much of a problem. We needed to keep the income
seperate anyway so it was no problem for us.
