South End OLRA Surface

Dear Somerville Dog Owners,

Have you taken your dog to the new Joe Wex Dog Recreation Space (DRS)
in Peters Park in the South End? What do you and your dogs think of
the rice stone surface that the City of Boston has installed in the
space?

The City of Somerville is considering the same stone in the new off-
leash recreational area in the Ed Leathers Community Park, currently
under construction on Walnut Street between Pearl Street and Medford
Street, behind the Central Library.

For the specifically inclined, the surface at the Joe Wex DRS is a 4"
depth of rice stone which was set over a 9" deep drainage stone layer.

Please share your experiences at the Joe Wex DRS.
