I have a .pdf that I am inserting on a FCP sequence.

When I blow it up it looks very bad.

Is there any way I can adjust the pdf so it is vector based?

Or any other work-around I can use to enlarge certain areas of the PDF without sacrificing quality?

Thanks!

Hi Stephen,

You might have better luck opening and re-sizing in Photoshop. PDF
are not vector images. You should request an Illustrator file or eps
if you need to re-size larger. If you need more help give me a call.

Stephen, did you render the PDF after you did the blow-up in FCP?

A PDF document CAN have vector graphics or rasterized elements, or a
combination of both, so your request is not unreasonable. However
Stephen, it sounds like you have rasterized elements that don't look
good beyond a certain size.

Two work arounds:
1. Open it in Illustrator and enlarge it to the size you need. Save it, then re-import it into FCP.
2. If you have Motion, import the pdf, open the media tab, select the pdf, go to the Inspector, click on Media, uncheck "Fixed Resolution". Blow up the image. Do whatever effects you want in Motion, and then export as you normally would for an FCP timeline.
