Hello there, I'm wondering if someone can recommend a plug in that split screens besides crumple pop.
Thanks

You don't need a plug-in. A “split screen” is nothing more than two clips in two video layers with their motion settings adjusted as needed.

Just to be clear, use the Motion tab within FCP, no need to use the Motion App.

Is this for FCP7 or FCPX?

For FCP7 there is a free one here:
http://web.mac.com/piero.fiorani/PieroF_FCE_Effect/Quarter_PIP.html

and for FCPX: http://fcp.co/forum/9-free-fcpx-plugins-and-templates/1460-free-rt-split-screen-title-for-final-cut-pro-x#6944

Also free! :)

Enjoy! Let me know how it works :)

Hola Ricardo, I included the links to the free plugins and a quick video on how to do it yourself below :)

Also you can use the crop tool ( the one selected in the image below )
Just lay one image on top and the other bottom and crop the top layer to your liken and then position.
If you want a color line just lay a color matte on top of them both and either crop or scale to the the thickness you want.

If you want to do a move on a still image you don't need a filter, you don't need a plug-in, you only need FCP 6.x/7.x. Use the motion tab built into FCP 6.x and 7.x (I'm assuming you don't mean FCPX). You can establish a set of start and stop keyframes with scale and position controls (a total of 4 keyframes, 2 for scale and 2 for position). You can do other things to it as well, such as keyframed rotations, etc.

Establish a still clip length and build your two keyframes at the first and last frame of the still clip. If you don't want to see the still starting its move then the same rules apply as if it were rolling video. You need to have those keyframes happen before and after any transitions, other than cuts.

Hello Felipe.

If you want to keep the picture zooming in, but keep your crop or matte the same size, you can either create a luma matte or the easier way is to remove the crops on the picture you have now and add your zoom in or zoom out key framed animation to that image.
Then you will nest that sequence.  Once you do that you can now crop your nested item.  What this will do is have the image zoom in or out while keeping the final image the same size.

Let me know if this helps.  If not I can do a screen grab when I get my next render break. :)

Here is another option to do the Ken Burns effect inside of FCP7:
http://www.noiseindustries.com/fxfactory/panandzoom/

Make sure to watch the video as it walks you through this effect.
It is a pretty nice plugin and it is FREE!!! :)

P.S. this plugin is not needed in FCPX as it already has this feature
in FCPX in the crop tools.

Enjoy and have an awesome day!
