Guys, chill!

It *looks like* Julian Laffont got a bug that blasted that message all
his email addresses -- including the one for this list. No, you'e not
infected, just short tempered. ;-) Don't take this incident
personally.

And Julian, if you're still out there, you need to update your
anti-virus. If I recall correctly, this happened before with you.

Instead of accused me of bother your glory, will be clever to consider another options like someone stole my data base.
I have nothing to do with the trash of okisell and I'm here to learn Final Cut and nothing more. I'm not your friend and since you are so stupid to accused me without ask what's going on I'm not interested to be.
sorry if someone bother the group, but was not me.
To the clever people of this group that has common sense, wish you the best.
To the others that accused me without ask , I have nothing to say.
Best Regards.

ok...i have no idea what just happened...but listen, julian...i don't think anyone said you were purposely doing anything.

no one is really super upset about the email either...so do not fret.

try and figure out what happened if it was even related to you...etc. etc. etc. you know check it out.

and that's it...no need to get upset with any of this.

and to the rest of the folks...we don't really need to get into any big discussions about this ok.

let's keep this list to FCP

thanks!

Julian, I feel bad for you. Hope this doesn't mess you up (more), but
how about creating a separate email account just for Facebook and
nothing else, so that when slime happens it doesn't go too far.

Am not on FB myself (yet) so I don't have any proven solutions to
share. Any suggestions from the FB experts out there??

Don't know if this applies to the current issue.   My FB account has been hacked in the past and used to send commercial messages but usually to other users of FB.
I stopped the problem by simply changing my FB password.

Don't put your email address on Facebook. If someone wants to contact me while on Facebook, they can send me a message through the Facebook contact method or IM me via the Facebook IM method.

Okay then, here you go Marlene. No expert but a big, big no-no is to allow your email address to be shown publicly or in any non-friends' postings. EVER. My wife set my FB pages up, she has all the restrictions that can possibly go there turned on.

You actually have to enable protections to use them, otherwise by default everybody sees it all. Not my favorite way of doing things, but something to be aware of with most social networking sites.

Here's a good place to start...Settings->Privacy. There's basic, and on the next page, contact info (not going to post my contact info here) so didn't post that page. Set everything to Friends Only. That'll do it.

Strong passwords are important, I use 18 characters- numbers and letters. Many variations can be actually easy to remember.
