This was a vibrant community years ago.  What has happened?   I have since moved to Los Angeles but came back to check on the group today and was surprised to see no activity.   Has it moved?

Thanks!

Maybe we're hibernating and will return roaring with activity later this spring... or not.

Hello!

I saw a change in posts after Final Cut X came out.
Maybe FCPX is so easy to use that there are less questions to ask.  :)

So you guys still are out there!

Has everyone switched to X?  I did the symphony crossgrade last year and have been loving being back on avid though I just finished a project with multiple deliverables on FCPX and it was a pleasure to work with.

Hello Brandon and good day!

Welcome back to Florida!
I switched to the X and I love it.  It is fun and a breeze to edit with it, I am able to now edit projects in half the time I did before. :)

Hello!

Yes I love it.  I believe it is the best FCP release since version 1. :)
Plus every time I open it I find something new that makes my workflow smoother and faster.

Let me know if you have any questions on FCPX, I know it can be a big change but I think it is well worth it!

Also if you add in Motion and Blender you can create almost anything your heart desires.

Have an amazing and creative day!

I imagined Apple would resolve most of the missing issues.  It was a high re-write.
Also make sure to check out the HUGE collection of free community created effects for FCPX:

I also have a few free templates on my site that I created as well that work in FCPX and some that work in FCP7.

Have an amazing day!

the flow between motion and fcpx is great and similar to the premiere-AE workflow (and also similar to the new eyeon fusion-avid workflow).

one major plus for fcp x is that one purchase can be loaded to MANY systems.   We have one license thats on a pile of stations now.     No one is using it but me so far but at least i could load them up....

plus motion is amazing and its 50$!

Hello Michael and good day.

Apple has a free trial to test out FCPX.  Once you get over the short learning curve you will be flying.
There are so many features that makes FCPX fast that I cannot even name them all.

I was very upset when Apple first came out with FCPX as many others were and I was about to make the jump to PP.  But, fortunately I gave FCPX a try and now I could not be any happier.

I hope to set up a live webcast in the near future so we can chat about some of the things I find amazing in FCPX.

Also the large number of free effects being made by the community is mind blowing.

Make sure to check out Motion as well, for less than $50.00 you can make some really nice effects and even create your own filters and transitions to use in FCPX.

Give it some time.  Play with it.  I am sure you will find it very fun to use.

Let me know if you have any questions and have an awesome day! :)

Hello Brandon.

Motion rocks!  Also, make sure to check out Blender.org as well.  It is FREE and AMAZING!!!
I found a script that allows me to export keyframes over to Motion from Blender:  http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?227090-Blender-to-Apple-Motion-export-script&p=1918370#post1918370

Using that script I was able to create most of the 3D templates found here:  http://motion-master-templates.com

Let me know what you think and have a great day! :)

Hello Michael.  I did the same thing too.
I recommend you play with.  Just add some elements and play around.

I would recommend you check out this site:  http://www.fcp.co/component/tortags/tag/Tutorials

Take your time and have fun.  I believe the hardest thing to learn is its simplicity.
Compared to FCP7, FCPX is a piece of cake.  So if you can work FCP7 then FCPX will be a breeze.

Have fun! :)

Here is my story...

I tried it also and was uncomfortable with the prospect of meeting a client deadline while learning the new system so I bailed.  At the time Avid offered Symphony for $1000 so I jumped on that and did not look back.  That is until one day at work this yearly PSA campaign came across my desk but this year the account's husband, a retired career hollywood boom operator, offered to do the shooting and editing so he could "learn fxp x on a real project" and knowing this would come to me to handle the finishing for broadcast and that it would essentially force me to learn it on the spot so I agreed...   At first it was goofy but I had to prevail with deadlines looming and the client in the room.   Sure enough I made it though and it was a great experience.  I have been using X at home since on smaller and more FX heavy work.  It is just so... Zippy!

I still love my Symphony but there is something so refreshing and fast about X.   Plus they pretty much lifted a few major avid concepts like the app handling the data base for you, which I really like.

my two cents...

Can anybody recommend a FCPX group?

we should have a "show your stuff" or hands-on seminars, would be useful and fun.

Hello Michael and good morning.

I have been able to pull some beautiful keys with Final Cut X in no time.  I have not compared it to PP but compared to FCP7 it is lightyears ahead.
I was very impressed with the ease of use, quality of the key and the speed of the render as well.

Download the free trial and play with it:  http://www.apple.com/finalcutpro/trial/

If you have any questions let me know.  Have an amazing day! :)

Hey Everyone

Seems like there is an interest in getting together periodically. My role at Apple precludes me from running a UG, but I would happy to put together a gathering every so often in conjunction with one of the local resellers or production houses where we could show work and do some Q&A and a few presentations.

Let me know how many folks are interested. If there are enough we will make it happen.

Hi All
We could possibly have a meeting at Accord Productions. Accord and Kesser Production has been offering classes
in FCP in a new classroom that we have developed. We have not had much luck at training FCP-X,
but had some success at FCP 7 classes. We have been bringing in Apple certified trainers.
So I think we could offer a interesting facility.
