Title: Diversity of Art Competition
Purpose: Join the Department of Residence Life in displaying the commitment to diversity and inclusion by promoting the talents of our students to capture community values through art.
Theme of the month for February: Capture or depict a moment that represents “Black Awareness Month” or “African American Culture”
About the Competition: Texas A&M University graduate or undergraduate students are eligible to participate in this competition. All the submissions will be displayed in the Commons Lobby for the entire month of March. The winning artwork from this competition will automatically become a part of the Department of Residence Life annual diversity calendar.
Rules and regulations: The art work must be the student’s original work in the form of drawing, painting or photography. The student needs to submit a written statement verifying their ownership/authorship of the art work and by participating in this competition they are granting Residence Life the permission to use their art work in an annual diversity calendar and other events without any cost or other copyrights. The student’s name will always be cited on the original artwork to protect any unauthorized duplication of the work.
Size: Width 1 ft. Height 1 ft. (Please do not submit any entrees smaller or larger than 1 foot X 1 foot)
Prize: The winner of this month contest will receive a brand new black 4.3 cubic feet micro-fridge. Judging will be done by a committee of staff and students.
Submission Deadline and Location: Please drop the original hardcopy of your art work to Room 142-A in Commons Lobby along with the consent statement giving us permission to display your art work. If you have any questions or concerns please e-mail
