CALL FOR PAPERS:
GLASSCOCK CENTER GRADUATE COLLOQUIUM

Greetings, this is a call for graduate students who would like to present their works-in-progress to the Glasscock Center's Graduate Colloquium in Spring 2010. The colloquium is for works-in-progress: these have ranged from outlines to working versions of a thesis or dissertation chapters to nearly finished conference papers. We normally do not discuss works that have been or are about to be published, since the idea behind the colloquium is to provide feedback on something not yet in its final form. Generally, our presenters provide a paper (or excerpt) of roughly fifteen to twenty double-spaced pages in length. If your submission is accepted, we ask for an electronic version of your paper at least two-weeks prior to your presentation date so that we can distribute it through our listserv. In our hour-long colloquium, we give the presenter ten to fifteen minutes to expand on what we have read and then we spend the rest of the hour discussing his or her work.

We will hold the colloquium throughout the Spring Semester on Thursday afternoons in the Glasscock Center Library, Room 301 of the Glasscock Building.

If you are interested, please send a 250 word abstract to: grad_co...@yahoo.com by Monday, November 30, 2009.

The proposals are reviewed by a committee comprised of graduate students from several different departments in consultation with the Director. We will announce the fall presenters by the end of the semester.

Thank you for your time; I look forward to hearing from you.

Glasscock Center Graduate Colloquium Coordinator
