While United Nations special envoy Kofi Annan was negotiating a ceasefire with the Syrian government, Syrian forces attacked town after town in Idlib province, as if they wanted to use every remaining minute possible to cause harm.
Our researchers visited five of the towns, obtaining evidence that forces executed at least 35 civilians and destroyed hundreds of houses.
One witness, who discovered 16 people who had been executed, said: “We first found five bodies in a little shop next to the house. They were almost completely burnt. We could only identify them by a few pieces of clothes that were left.”
There are serious concerns over whether the Chinese government will honor commitments it made to the US government to not persecute activist Chen and his family members. Not only does the Chinese government have an appalling track record on human rights, but Chen himself has also already reported receiving threats to his family’s safety by government officials.
The US Labor Department has caved in to Big Agriculture and their allies in Congress to abandon the most vulnerable working children in America. Instead of protecting child farmworkers, the Labor Department will look the other way when children get crushed, suffocated, and poisoned on the job.
