Patna: Defying court order has landed former Human Resource
Development Department (HRD) Secretary and senior IAS officer KK
Pathak in deep trouble. The Patna high court has imposed a fine of Rs
25,000 on him for non-compliance of the court's repeated directives to
appear before the court.

Justice Navniti Prasad Singh also directed to initiate criminal
contempt proceedings against Pathak. In his 17-page order Justice
Prasad said," The fine should be deposited by him within a week with
Bihar Legal Aid Committee and the receipt of it be submitted to the
court within the timeframe."

While disposing the complaint filed by Dharmasheela Prasad and other
teachers of Patna University, Justice Prasad observed that Pathak
unnecessarily wasted the time of the court in creating a false
defence. "If he can visit the Advocate General in his chamber, what is
the problem in deposing before the court," he asked.

Pathak failed to appear before the court even after notice served on
him for the sixth time, which angered the court. "He is directed to
appear before the court on September 27, the next date of hearing of
the criminal contempt case," justice Prasad said.
