Free Burma’s Political Prisoners
Interactive Art and Photo Installation at Grand Central Station

Dear Avnish,
Help make history by participating in this special one-day event in Grand Central Terminal, conceived as part of Human Rights Watch’s “2100 in 2010” campaign which seeks the release of Burma’s estimated 2,100 political prisoners ahead of the elections scheduled later this year.
Takes place tomorrow,  June 22nd.

You are invited to view a special interactive installation created by JWT and representing a Burmese prison complex with hundreds of miniature cells. Each cell bar is actually a pen, which you will be able to remove and use to sign a petition urging Burma’s military leader, Senior General Than Shwe, to release all political prisoners ahead of the elections.
You will also be able to meet former Burmese political prisoners including monks who led the 2007 "Saffron Revolution," view performances by leading Burmese artists, and listen to readings by Burmese rights activists as well as noted non-Burmese writers and entertainers who support their cause.
Schedule - June 22:

7:30 AM - Monks and guests arrive at Vanderbilt Hall.

7:45 AM - Monks from the International Burma Monks Organization chanting

8:00 AM - OPENING of event: remarks by Kenneth Roth (Executive Director at Human Rights Watch), H.E. Martin Palouš (Czech Ambassador to the United Nations), Andy Clarke (Group Creative Director at JWT), and Nyi Nyi Aung (Burmese activist and recently released political prisoner)

8:35 AM - Performance by a Burmese dancer

8:45 AM - Readings by members of Human Rights Watch’s New York Committee in support of Burma's political prisoners

12:30 PM - Remarks by Elaine Pearson (Acting Asia Director at Human Rights Watch), U Agga Dhamma (Burmese monk and former political prisoner), Roy Wisnu (Art Director, JWT), Chris Swift (Copywriter, JWT), and Burmese artist Chaw Ei who will read a statement of support by American artist Shepard Fairey
