Social Actions Wizard -- Thoughts on Testing

Taken from the concept document -- to work on later:

Testing:

  • Campaigns that have already taken place (eg: Beth K's giving challenge) can be entered into the wizard to see what it would suggest. We can test on both successful and unsuccessful campaigns. Based on our own knowledge and evaluation of what should have been done differently we can start to determine the validity of the wizard's suggestions.  [PD: Peter Gulka, I like this idea.  Maybe we can draw up a scenario grid to inventory the kinds of campaigns, ie, campaigns that benefit independent projects vs. nonprofits, or campaigns that raise money vs. campaigns that raise volunteers, or campaigns exclusively on Facebook vs. campaigns running on a blog)  If we can create a template response to each scenario, then the wizard will be well on the way to responding to specific needs] [CE: I like this, too, and the idea of a grid... maybe something with Initiator on one axis (Individual-Hybrid-Nonprofit) and Beneficiary (Individual-Organization-Community) on the other. Not sure I'd grid the other categories -- with a decentralized campaign, it's so easy to loose track of forums (Facebook vs. blog) and impact (volunteers, money, awareness, etc.).
  • Currently running campaigns can be modeled to see if the wizard chooses the same things as the campaign organizer. [HR – Plus once a campaign is plugged in and an outcome is suggested, modify one or two things and see if the same outcome is suggested, or a different outcome? For example, we are starting a campaign around uterus prolapse (if you want to learn more – http://advocacynet.org/resource/967. I’m really not trying to use this as a promotion thing. It’s just helping me think it through). Anyway, if I plug in information about that, and it suggests using Change.org and MySpace, what happens if I go back and change the parameters? Will it suggest the same platforms or different platforms?]
  • Future campaigns can be created by us for specific causes we feel passionate about or that we know others will be undertaking. We can Alpha/Beta test the wizard and get their feedback on the ideas suggested, even if they are not adopted
  • [HR – We’ll want to plug in a campaign that we know won’t work, with outrageous time deadlines, etc… to see what comes back]

Hi Peter,
Let me start by preparing the grid of scenarios -- then we can see if
the squirrel problem is dealt with.
All the best,
Peter

I like grids a lot. A scenario grid is a great visual tool so we can
process all the possibilties at once.

Again I will bring up the issue of scope creep. Lots of great ideas
are being floated but we need to lock down what the first iteration is
going to look at or it ends up the same as when you try to cram 15
