Hi SOCALWUG!

My friends Kurt Daradics and Baron Miller from MOTM (Meeting of the Minds)
have asked me to invite all us folks from SOCALWUG to the Digital Family
Reunion at the Skirball Cultural Center. It's a mashup of networking and
trade groups around LA all meeting in one place - like a family reunion!

The event is tonight starting at 5:00pm but runs until 10:00 with music,
social mixing, art, food, and a bar.

Please use the MOTM promo code DFR16 for $20 off.

If you can't make it in person, TechZulu is hosting a live stream:
www.techzulu.com/live.html

This looks like a great way to re-energize the meetups in LA, including
SOCALWUG - and I'm excited to see what's next!

Thanks and I hope to see you there!

Here are the details...
--------------------------------------------------------------

On Thursday, December 11th from 5:00pm to 10:00pm, the Digital Family
Reunion (DFR) is bringing the Southern California technology and business
communities together for the holidays at the Skirball Cultural Center. In
association with some of the region's top trade associations and social
networking groups, the DFR is throwing the holiday party of the
millennium... so far! The DFR will reignite old relationships, spark new
ones, and set the stage to kick off 2009 with a bright new start.

- There will be delicious food, cash bar, art installations, live music,
DJ, entertainment, and amazing social networking.

- We encourage you to beat the traffic and participate to our interactive
'town hall meeting' at 5pm forecasting 2009 with industry pioneers like
Jason Calacanis, Ryan Scott, Shawn Gold, Ken Rutowski, etc.

- The dress is business casual but we're hearing that lots of attendees
are doing the cocktail attire thing. It's LA so anything goes, but just so
you know~

If you have any questions about the event, feel free to call the WITI
office at 818 788-9484.

C'mon!

@KurtyD on behalf of the Digital Family Reunion Steering Committee,

Brad Nye, Dave Leighton, Kurt Daradics, & Tony Winders

Oh by the way, because this is a 'Family Reunion' we're wanting to get the
word out to as many folks as possible. Please forward this to anyone you
feel would enjoy what will be a most memorable evening.

It was be super to get the Southern California Digital Communications Council (Ham) together again, and reminisce, but on 10 hours notice?

This ain't gonna happen.

Oh you would be surprised. Send them an e-mail and see who is available.

Plus this event has been heavily promoted for a couple months on several
socal group lists.

Saying it won't happen will be a self fulfilling prophecy if you don't
do anything :)

Hey Dave!

I didn't mean to be a nattering nabob of negativism (!) but I can't do it that quick - sure, I will pass it around but I guess I don't follow the right lists because this (thanks Mike!) is the first I have heard of it.

Hey, did anyone else see this $400 "spectrum analyzer" that ThinkGeek is selling? Looks like a lot of money for something pretty simplistic in action...

This is an updated version (V 2.4x) of the WiSpy V1 that I won at a
SOCALWUG meeting and which originally sold for $99, but now costs
$199.

The manufacturer (metageek.net) is selling the nfor 15% off "for a
limited time." Use the discount code 2.4xOFFER

Or if you buy 3 or more, you can get them for 20% off. See
http://metageek.net/blog/need-more-wi-spys .

The dual band DBx model is not yet available, but will sell for $799.
If you put yourself on their email list, they said they'll send you a
discount code for $200 off when it is available.

Likewise, this is a HUGE conflict with another event, already (somewhat) promoted even here, and that is SGVLUG's general meeting -- tonight's topic is breaking wifi security...
