When I'm umpiring I get to wear a shirt and tie. Most cricket these
days is played in coloured clothing. It's the first class game that
wears the whites. Though, league cricket in northern cricket union is played in whites.

6 hours for 4 or 5 days in the baking sun, what else would you wear?
In the olden days 1920ish. Test matches were timeless, the game was
played until somebody won, there was no provision for a drawn match.
Games could last for over a week. You wouldn't be too white after
that, and neither would your clothes.

****Try an afternoon of lawn bowling. No soiled attire there!!!

It had crossed my mind actually. My good Indian friend explained to me why Indians don't play much
rugby, but prefer cricket. It's a social/religious quirk. You might
have to contact a person who you shouldn't. Crazy!!
Hard luck Ireland today. Whatever the Saffa coach said at half time
done the trick.

****May I suggest an alternative? Road bowling (o whatever the actual name is) would be yer man.

*****Considering the average Hindu weighs in at 93 pounds or so, I don't blame them.

i did it in the army for a short while, watching the pink mist is always
fun. and i got paid to do it.
***My grandson was hot after being a Marine sniper.
My nephew, a combat vet, suggested he put on his Gilly suit and lay out in the hot sun, totally motionless, for a minimum of eight hours.
Then decide if he truly wanted to engage in that activity.
(Happy Veteran's day, BTW)

You mean *Ulzana's Raid*?
The whites were bad, but not as bad as the Injuns.
And the Injuns were doing all of that to other Injun tribes long
before the whites came.
That is your culture that you are trying to preserve - Ulzana's Raid.

we had to make the weapon as well, i started out with a 30-06 hunting rifle ordered from the states, and then 2 years later a modified m14 for about 6 months and then a barrett 50 cal. being a second lieutenant was ok, but the higher up you went in rank the less you went into the field in sog in the nam, retired as a ltcol when i was 58, wish i would have made full bird, would have if i stayed in. ghillie suits are not that hot, infact they will keep you cool in direct sun, and they keep bugs off you, nothing worse than a mosquito biting you in nam. i had snakes crawl over me and they never knew i was there. snakes are tasty don't ya know.

and to think we did it without guns! much better up close and personal. but we didn't kill children and women, we took them to be our own, unlike the whites who killed everything

***Thus the term "Snake Eater"
I heard that Rattlesnake tastes a bit like chicken.
RE Ghillie Suit: Crapping and Peeing while inching across the ground for hours on in must not have been all that enjoyable.
Anything for the shot, I guess.
