Josh,

In accordance with your request...I'm testing out your E-Mail facility...I
hope the Senator will focus on technology for his staff...This is the
information age...
You need a InterNet access point, slip, edura (e-mail), newswatchers,
turbogopher, and Netscape (MOSAIC) facility to the World Wide Web...Then
the Senator needs to set up his own page on the net...

Josh...Lt.General Kurlak would be the worst thing to happen for the future
of the United States Marine Corps...Look deeply into his history,
philosophy, and his religious bigotry...Then trace his steps when he and
General Johnston architected the Marine Corps Policy on Marriage and
Family...Then look at his effort regarding Tailhook...The man has no
business being the Chief Executive Officer (Commandant) for the United
States Marine Corps...Then take a look at his brothers stand; he is a navy
admiral and chaplin...Then look at his fathers history Lt.General Charles
(Brute) Krulak...And then tell me these are the right people...

Josh, Dale Davis is Dr. Dale Norman Davis, Lt.Col., USMC (ret); Dean
Emertis at the College of Business, Eastern New Mexico Univerity, Portales,
New Mexico...Have the Senator speak with Dr. Davis...

Mr. President,

Please reconsider your position on selecting Lt. Gen. Charles Krulak as the
next commandant of the Marine Corps; his fundamentalist Christian views
and his denial of Marine Families are intolerant, adverse, and inconsistent
to the future of the Corps.

During the confirmation process, please explore his views toward Marine
Families and the enrichment of their quality of life including his
fundamentalist Christian views.

Semper Fi!

New Marine Corps Chief Named by Clinton

By SUSANNE M. SCHAFER

AP Military Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Clintonturned to a veteran of the Persian Gulf
War, Vietnam and Washington strategy sessions to lead the Marine Corps for
the next four years.

Clinton announced his plans to nominate Lt. Gen. Charles C. Krulak, 53, as
his choice to succeed Gen. Carl Mundy Jr. as Marine Corps commandant. Mundy
retires July 1.

Krulak currently commands the Marines in the Pacific from Camp H.M. Smith
in Hawaii. "He brings to the job of commandant a dynamic vision of the
Marine Corps' future, a wealth of experience and a highly effective
leadership and managerial style," Clinton said in a statement.

The announcement of Krulak's nomination, which must be confirmed by the
Senate, was timed to coincide with the commemoration of the 50th
anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima early Tuesday. Krulak and Mundy were
attending the ceremony on the Pacific island.

End EMBARGOED material

The size of the Marine Corps owes much to Krulak. As the services' top
personnel manager in 1991, Krulak worked with Mundy to produce a plan to
reduce the Corps from 177,000 troops from a Gulf War level of 229,000.

But by doing so, the two generals also managed to stave off even deeper
cuts - to 159,000 Marines - that had been proposed during the tenure of
Defense Secretary Dick Cheney.

Krulak was briefly in the news as commanding general of the Marine Corps
Combat Development Command in Quantico, Va., where he was in charge of
reviewing Marine cases in connection with the Tailhook sex abuse scandal.

He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and commanded a platoon and two
rifle companies during his two tours of duty in Vietnam. He served as the
commanding officer of the counter-guerrilla warfare school in Okinawa.

Besides holding a variety of staff and command posts, Krulak served as
deputy director of the White House military office in 1987.

He also served as the military assistant to the assistant secretary of
defense for command, control and intelligence.

Krulak has commanded the 10th and 6th Marine Expeditionary Brigades, based
at Camp Lejuene, N.C. In the Persian Gulf War, he served as the Marines'
logician - ensuring the force had the tools of war it needed to attack the
Iraqis occupying Kuwait.

Krulak was born on March 4, 1942, in Quantico, the son of Lt. Gen. Victor
Krulak.

He graduated from The Phillips Exeter Academy; holds a degree in
engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a masters degree in labor
relations from the George Washington University.

His decorations include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal; the Silver
Star Medal; Bronze Star with Combat "V" and two gold stars and a Purple
Heart with gold star.

He is married to the former Zandra Meyers of Annapolis, Md. They have two
sons.
