transboutique.com: This week in review (January 2 - 8)

This is a partial list of what is being discussed by users this past week at
transboutique.com - why not stop by?

Transsexuality primer - part 1. - Transsexuality
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=20100108142341796
We don't know what causes transsexuality. It seems that the more we look, the
more we realize just how little we really do know. And yet, progress is being
made, at least with respect to some possible biological factors.

Friday - Thank the Gods - Willow's blog
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=2010010810295583
I was often in conversations about current events, some politics and more than
a bit of international affairs. I enjoyed those discussions and while we
never solved anything, they were a part of my life. After transition, with a
majority of my close friends being female, those conversations have all but
disappeared.

How to make and use a gaff - Crossdressing
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=20100107165034592
The nice thing about having a "Drag Mom" to help bring out your inner woman
for the first time is that there is so much lore and so many "secret" tricks
you don't find online that you will learn from your mentor. One of these
tricks is much easier to show than to explain, but I will give it a go.

Ah ha! Our agenda!!! - Willow's blog
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=20100107114927559
The religious right in the USA has burst a gasket regarding the appointment of
a transsexual woman to a major government post. Focus on the Family and
others managed to ignore totally her qualifications (three degrees, etc) and
Obama appoints transsexual to Commerce post - transsexuality
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=20100104225840976
Amanda Simpson becomes the first publicly acknowldeged transsexual to be
appointed by the Obama administration. She will be working as a senior
technical advisor for the Department of Commerce; in the Bureau of Industry
and Security.

Newspapers: Tranny is for cars, not people! - transgender
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=20100104163513904
It might be a new year, but it's the same old story. Newspapers wonder why
they're dying, when reporters still use the word "tranny" to refer to
transgendered people and editors don't correct them

A look at the transsexual gene - medical
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=20100102214703945
The reality is that most of the people we deal with on a day-to-day basis
won't care about this research, they either accept us for who we are, or their
minds are already made up, and nothing except the passing of time will erode
their opposition

Kitten's Blog - Kitten's blog

CDs are probably the broadest category in the greater TG heirarchy. People
wear clothing normally worn by the opposite sex for a number of reasons.
Sometimes we aren't even exactly sure ourselves why we do it. It can be a
compulsion. It can be a hobby. It can consume a person's life, or it can be a
therapeutic stress reliever.

Today I went Google-free - Barbie's blog
http://transboutique.com/article.php?story=20100102001603654
I think having a bit of privacy is important to everyone. That is why one of
my unspoken New Years resolutions was to do everything I can to dump Google,
after their CEO made it clear that people shouldn't have any expectation of
privacy, on or off the Internet.

About TransBoutique: transboutique.com is a transgender/transsexual support
forum that is also dedicated to educating the general public on issues
regarding gender roles and identities, to supportive discussions of people who
find they don't fit in the "binary gender model", as well as a place where
their friends, family, co-workers, teachers, parents, spouses, and children
and ask questions and hopefully find a few answers
