If I had a nickel for every resume I have handled in my 17 years as a
recruiter, I would be a rich woman. Instead I have to settle for being
outrageously good � looking..ok, I am kidding about the latter but the
point is that one handles a lot of resumes as a recruiter.

Keeping these things in mind, let�s discuss the resume. Those of you in the
job market for anything other than a manual labor position know that you
need one in some form. Until the recruiter meets you in person or talks to
you on the telephone, that resume is the total summary of who and what you
are-hopes, dreams, goals, track record and personality. It follows then,
that you want to provide your best first impression then, right?

Sometimes there is a disconnect between the brain and the print on the
resume. Typing errors, words with incorrect definitions (e.g., insure vs.
ensure) and misleading the reader about what you want to do are big points
that will disqualify you for a position and you will never learn that is
happened. Why? Employers don�t want to be sued. In today�s American society
anyone can be sued and right or wrong, you have to defend yourself in
court. Anyone can make these errors and I have made my share-I am not
perfect either. I am in a position to help others not make errors that will
get them disqualified before they have a chance to get an interview.

I got an invite from Bobbi today, too. I think your timing was
coincidence. I've been a member of the group for years.

Grouply apparently makes it easy to "invite" a whole yahoo group. When
I went to check it out, I got some pages which would allow me to spam
all my Yahoo groups. I turned it down, obviously, but it seems an awful
temptation. Perhaps we could complain to Yahoo before moving everyone
off? Yahoo can always just ban Grouply's API key.
