Squick!!! Just reading about was gross!!! <LOLOLOL>
I do have a warning about pet food. I know it's a hot fantasy for
some--but before you (or your top) has you eat some, it would behoove
them to know *what* you're eating. I mean, I know I'm a fanatic about my
dogs but after I did some research into dog food, I started fixing my
dogs's food myself out of human quality ingredients.
Part of the problem with commercial dog food is that the labelling
laws apply differently for dog food than they do for human grade food.
For one thing, manufacturers only have to list the ingredients that
*they* put in the dog food. If an ingredient comes to their factory with
something already in it, they don't have to list it. This is how many
dog food manufacturers got away with having ethoxyquin (a preservative
suspected or doing truly nasty things to the liver, kidneys and
reproductive systems) in foods that didn't carry ethoxyquin on the
label--they purchased their meat with the ethoxyquin already added in.
Meat used in some dog foods is classified as "4-D." The four D's are
dead, diseased, disabled or dying. This is not meat that is considered
safe for human consumption! It can be from animals that were treated
with various medications the day before slaughter (for most medications,
there is a mandated quarantine period immediately prior to slaughter
where the medication must not have been administered). The grain isn't
always of the best quality, either--it can be moldy or otherwise
considered not fit for human consumption.
Even more disgusting, some of the worst brands of dog food are made
in part from dogs and cats that have been euthanized, then rendered--in
some cases, complete with things like their flea collars. The pesticides
in flea collars are not nice and there's a reason they're not considered
fit for human consumption.
The much-touted AAFCO standards are not much--a given food must
sustain life for a certain percentage of dogs fed that diet exclusively
for six weeks. That's not much of a standard. There are minimum levels
of protein, fat and a few other nutrients but absolutely no mandate as
to the quality of the ingredients.
In general, you get what you pay for with dog food. The cheaper
brands are cheap because they have cheap ingredients. The more expensive
brands usually (not always) have better grade ingredients.
How can dogs eat this stuff and thrive? In part because dogs evolved
from animals that are hunter/scavengers. The acid level in a dog's
stomach is 3-4 times higher than a human's stomach--they're able to
tolerate food with much higher levels of micro-organisms than we are.
Dogs also vomit more easily than human beings and often rely on that as
a safety valve. They are a short-gut mammal, so if they don't puke
something up, it will go through their system much faster than a human
being's long-gut system.
An alternative for someone who'd like to feed their bottom dog food
would be to make it themselves. It's not difficult--I should know, I do
it every day. Another alternative is making dog biscuits; you can even
find dog bone shaped cookie cutters fairly easily. Or there's my little
homemade treat for pregnant bitches: garlic, Parmesan and liver
flavoured yogurt. They love it. <WG>

*snipped good warning about the rastyness of dog food*
hmm. i read somewhere about a trick to make a sub think he
is eating dog food, when he is not. clean a dog food can very
well, and fill it with beef stew. (probably best if you make
the stew without veggies, or remove the veggies.) then top
it with one of those plastic dog-food-can lids, and put it in
the fridge. when you want to punish your sub, plop the food
into a doggie dish (cold); apparently cold beef stew is a fair
substitute in texture and so on, without giving your sub the trots.

Uurrgh.. mashed potatoes make me vomit (no idea why)
as for food at the "wrong" temperature - sometimes it tastes BETTER when
it's cold, like last night's dinner does now.. or sausages, chicken.. (or
raw british beef on the bone.. <Mad Cow Grin>)
cereal - sometimes I put cereal, milk and irish country cream together and
mircowave them for a minute.. lovely!
cold soup - I used to go cycling with cold oxtail soup in my water bottle..
but then again, if you mixed them together....

well, when i'm in ponygirl mode i have been forced to eat things with a
small bit in my mouth, grapes were very interesting as they have a
tendency to fall and roll on the kitchen floor at which point i have to
chase after them on all fours and pick them up in a bitted mouth, get the
grape around the bit and into my mouth. especially fun while groups of
people watch and laugh ;)
of course feedbags are also a bit humiliating as well =) *pant*

I have tried hard to work on something like this, and think I have an
answer. As a long time "DOM" of extremly cruel ways, I believe I know
the way to ultimate humiliation and degradation through food. If I am
too lazy to flog or whip or otherwise physically punish the female
sub, I simply require that she eat chocolate. Sometimes a "death by
chocolate" cake seems appropriate, sometimes a wonderful piece of
chocolate candy. If I think the punishment is truly deserved, I make
chocolate suffle, with a chocolate amaretto sauce. I am not sure
whether it is my incredible good looks, awesome physique, or
powerful domineering style, but they do seem to return for more and
more punishment.

Hey, Mike, the best recipe for okra goes like this:
Wash it thoroughly. Put it *all* into the disposal. Turn the disposal on.
Smile as it's destroyed. Get into your car and go out for dinner.
Enjoy!

Boiled okra is as bad as food gets. Slimy, mixed with fiber.
Easy to cook, difficult to eat.
However:
<suthren>
Cut in 1/2" sections.
Coat with beaten egg; coat with cornmeal.
Deep fry.
Enjoy.

Okra this way is one of the best vegies there is (IMO).
And it's good in gumbo, too.
Gumbo is a multi-meat or fish/vegie/tomato stew, of USAn Cajun
ethnic derivation, wherein sliced okra is added at the end as a
thickener. Served over rice, with *lots* of Tobasco sauce.
'course, sometimes the okra is replaced by file (fee-lay) as a
thickener; file is powedered sassafras leaves (and a weak
carcinogen).

DISGUSTING to the max!!!!
But it reminded me of a rather unsafe practice of a certain sorority in the 60's
deep south - washed raw oysters to blindfolded pledges who had just been serenade
to a chorus of nose blowing. Even those known to like oysters gagged on them,
thinking the lumpy, viscous substance to be of human origin.

This is a perversion that perhaps only a Minnesnowta native will be

What, you ask, *is* lutefisk? Fish processed with (among other

ROFL!!!!!
Rest assured us Scandinavians know the stuff, too - sickening, disgusting, and
you okra haters would be in for a rude awakening if you ever tried it!
I've sat through a formal dinner where you HAD to at least
taste.....ewwwwwwwwww multiplied by a million!
In areas where the sewage system is sufficiently modern to handle the
load, you can put a small grinder into the drain beneath the kitchen
sink. Soft garbage dropped into the sink is caught above the blades,
while liquids go through. Then, you turn on the grinder and run the
water. The garbage is ground up into pulp that the water flushes down
the drain and into the sewers. I gather from what you write, and
other sources, that NYC's sewers are so antiquated that they can't
handle this without being completely rebuilt.

A disposal is an under the sink food grinder which replaces your drain.
Think of it as a Quisanart (sp?) for waste food. The problem with a
disposal is that the extra organics you 'dispose' of that way cause an
increase from between 10 to 30 times the required capacity at your local
sewage facility to handle it. That's why they are illegal in NYC and
several other places.
I personally don't like 'em because people are forever getting tableware
stuck in them and then sticking their hands in them ... while they're
running. _Not_ a pretty event!
The above is probably more than you ever wanted to know about disposals.

Endorphin Rush and Dave's Insanity are roughly the same level of hotness.
Close enough to make differences trivial - I know a few people who, having
had both, say one is hotter than the other, while my perceptions of them
changed from time to time. Personally, I thought the flavor was the true
torture - never mind the heat, they both ruined the flavor of the food.
Odd that something that smells like A1 steak sauce can be so vicious in
both fire and flavor.... ;)
Dave's also has a limitted edition, over $25 a bottle, that's supposed to
be twice as hot as the original, and there's a liquid called "Pure Cap"
roughly four or five times worse - basically the pure capsaicin extract
without a sauce around it. (I want some *grin*)
And -all- of these are incredibly nasty and deserve some caution - I've
an incredible tolerance for these things, yet have had heart palpitations
from my first couple drops of Dave's and Endorphin Rush, the first time I
ran into them - they truly can cause problems. Even at my prime, I'd
sometimes wind up turning a pale shade and trembling from the pain if I
had enough of them - like when I did a teaspoon full of Dave's on a ten
dollar dare.
(Interestingly, two such times prompted the only times I've actually gone
into subspace - I wound up concentrating, almost fixating, on someone in
my group each time as a way of distancing myself from the pain. Each time
it took weeks or longer to get over having an intense desire to please the
person, and that was with my making a deliberate attempt to get over it.)

If you add some fruit roll ups into that equation, you can make some

Yes, and they can also cause a reaction similair to an extremely bad
chemical burn in some people.
Last summer I was working as a chef for a company, and the crew
was preparing for a rather large picnic that was being held. Myself
and one other person were asked to prepare some "scotch bonnet"
peppers to include in the chili. I knew what they were, and wore the
latex gloves. My partner didn't, even after I told her she should,
several times. Scotch bonnet is also known as a habanero.
Long story short, after we had prepared about 50 of these
peppers, we both started having a reaction to it. Mine was rather
mild, but I couldn't breathe around them once they were cut. (I have
asthma.) My partner's reaction sent her to the hospital to get
treated for a chemical burn, and resulted in her being out of work the
next day. Her arms swelled up, her eyes puffed and got so bad she
could barely see, and she was in agony.
Just be careful if you are going to play with these things! They
are nasty!
Toria

enough good Scotch to drown my sorrows in first. Somehow eating
haggis without drinking Scotch is impossible.
Lutefisk causes me to safeword.

What if the animals were alive as you ate them? I find that having things
wriggle in my throat, or scream as I'm chewing, vastly improves the culi-
nary experience.
Butchering innocent plants and eating dead parts of them, even if torn
living from the vine or shrub, just isn't the same for me. Although I
can see the satisfaction in taking a well-loved plant, one whose owner
has lavished affection and care on it, talking to it and playing soothing
music for it, and devouring that shrubbery before their very eyes, as I
listen to the person's cries of anguish and outrage.... *sigh*
Problem is, no matter how much the sadist inside me relishes such things,
that I can't get meaningful consent from the plant, which is an issue
often overlooked by you sap-thirsty vegetarians whom the very trees and
algae shrink from in fear.

One heck of a mindfuck, but reasonably safe for the pledges. I doubt that
the oysters consented though.

Raw oysters, despite being unfathomably *g* popular, are often the cause
of illness and sometimes death here in the states. Considering the smell
and, er, consistency of raw oysters, I feel the "russian roulette" aspect
of raw oysters must be the true appeal, rather like eating fugu (blowfish)
in Japan.
I understand that the saran-wrapped and twist-tied veggies in the
produce section gave their consent at the processing plant ... or that's
what i *heard*. I can't help myself though ... there's nothing i like
better than to take one of those arrogant little silver queen ears of
corn, strip it naked and slide it slowly into a vat of boiling water,
watching with great pleasure as it rolls over and over in agony. After
five minutes (no more, no less), i allow it to recover a bit on a cool
plate and just when it thinks the worst is over, i pierce it at either
end with clever skewers, spread salt on its still-steaming skin, and
bite down hard.
Cheese? Now you're talking. A nice bit of White Stilton perhaps, maybe

You eat Louisiana hot sauce or habanero sauce with chips. Ymmmmm.

No, no, no........Tequila shots! If it doesn't work, you don't mind as much.
But it does work.
Ever have a drink called a Prarie Fire? 1 part tequila, 1 part tabasco, 1
part sour mix.

Put it in the compost bin and get some of that really hot Indian food. It taste
pretty good (IMO) and yet is difficult to eat without a glass of water, dry
ice, and a Halon fire extinguisher. Sort of the pleasure/pain thing in food.

I don't think you get the point here: the ice cream's supposed to
buffer the chilis on the way *out.*

Milk, or some other dairy product, is generally a better bet.

My Malaysian pals always swore by bananas.
Personally, I found that was just another reason to
avoid spicy foods, since I don't consider bananas
edible.

You and me both; I even find their smell nauseating. I do, however,
make an exception for banana nut bread, which I enjoy on occasion.

No, the old joke is that the next day, when you're eliminating the
waste products you'll be yelling, "Come *on,* ice cream!"
Supposedly, it will have the same buffering effect coming out as it
did going in.
*Sigh!* If you have to explain it...

Because it would be such a waste of good ice cream? Of course, one doesn't
/have/ to use *good* ice cream for such a purpose. Ordinary vanilla would
do the trick.

Hey, a good vanilla ice cream will beat a mediocre flavored version
any day of the week. Some folks use the quality of a maker's vanilla
as a yardstick for the caliber of their other flavors; for if
they can't execute a simple vanilla, who knows
what sort of flaws they're attempting to disguise under gaudier flavors?

If you look carefully Lori, you'll see I said /ordinary/ vanilla.
Mike H
* I tried an internal modem but it hurt when I walked.
If you look carefully, you'll notice that "ordinary vanilla" is
a phrase that can be interpreted in more than one way.
either: vanilla = ordinary (which is what I was disputing)
or ordinary vanilla = less than outstanding vanilla.
It's not obvious to the naked eye which one you meant.
