James City County police said a man tried to lure a 12-year-old girl
into his vehicle Monday morning near Deerspring Road and Leon Drive in
James City County.
According to a news release, missed her school bus and started walking
down Leon Drive when a dark green car, similar to a Toyota Camry or
Pontiac Grand Prix, drove up beside her. Police said a black male in his
20's, with light green eyes, short dark hair and wearing a blue t-shirt
and jeans asked her if she had seen his missing dog.
When she said she had not, he told her to get in the car with her. The
girl then ran down the street screaming. Police said the vehicle drove
in the direction of John Tyler Highway. Anyone with information about
the suspect's identity is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
