Last weekend, Allison hosted another glorious party in the Back of Nowhere.

Although there was not a single dog in sight, we managed to find things to
talk about in between bites of chocolate.

I enjoyed running up and down hills, finding excellent bargains at the town
rummage sale, swimming in a gorgeous lake surrounded by trees, picking
blueberries with young C, eating chocolate, and most of all, chatting with
friends I don't see often enough.

During one of those conversations, I discovered that I had both sung and
played for a sniggler wedding that I couldn't attend, through the magic of
technology.

Did I mention that there was chocolate?

Viva l'otessa!

Thank you :)

It was well attended, and therefore a terrific party. Thank
you, everyone who came. Sorry to miss those who couldn't make
it. We will have to make up for that later.

Someone got some cool dresses. And maybe left her pantses?
I swapped sunglasses with someone else. The ones I've got
now are really more her style than mine; perhaps I shall
make a new fashion statement with them.
Someone else got their pantses back. ("Just what kind of a
party was this?")

Mmmm. Strongbow. Shared the remaining can with the
carpenter and another friend this evening. Thanks!

I made another guest jittery over train connections. Bad
hostess. No biscuit. But salty plum candy instead, so I, at
least, *win.*

>Although there was not a single dog in sight,

The dogs were definitely missed. Though perhaps not by Mouse.
We will have to remedy this next year.

The knitting was down to a quiet sideline, too, but quite
dazzling nonetheless.

>we managed to find things to
>talk about in between bites of chocolate.

I am happy to report that I am not allergic to chocolate.

Speaking of chocolate that I am not allergic to, there were
not one, but two separate batches of dark chocolate covered
ginger. That isn't all gone yet. Mmmmmm.

And in a non sequitor typical of this post, does anyone
remember how to make a cd from itunes? I've done it three
or four times, but with many months to a year in between and
I always forget. Got a klezmer request.
Speaking of music, the microphone is decidedly *not* missed.
But the watering can is useful.

Sourdough. Wow. Oh! Keep forgetting to pass the beasties
along... that should happen tomorrow.

Unlike previous boinks, I was pretty much fried before this
one started. Thankfully, everyone knows how to run BoN by
now. So perhaps no one noticed my non-state. I had a great
time anyway. Who wouldn't, with such company?

>During one of those conversations, I discovered that I had both sung and

The magic of technology also allowed the rest of us to witness
a small part of said wedding. And other weddings. And flaming
pianos being flung across fields.

New boink activity: checking youtube. Or just email. Pix to
follow, probably on fb.

>Did I mention that there was chocolate?

My amazing carpenter discovered the chocolate covered oreos
today (who brought those dangerous things?? as if I didn't know).
Carpenter was happy, and it's a very good thing to keep the
carpenter happy.

I've still missed out on some commentary. Let's see: cherries
and chocolate brownie-things and 'other halves', people in the
background who make everything work, trebuchet planners, builders
and launchers, and the delivery crew for the postmaster's raspberry
tart. There!

No, wait. Forgot Bird, five Matildas, five Ermengards, three
Fridas, three Inigos, six Duckducks, and nine banties including
Punkchick. Fuzzypants, as many of you know, thumbed his beak
at BoN and was partying down at Chickie Valhalla, instead.

Now, who have I missed?

>Viva l'otessa!

Just the other day I was telling one of my younger crowd how I
had no problem reading books or seeing series out of sequence,
because I cut my eye teeth on usenet in a time when posts showed
up minutes, hours, days, or even weeks late. So lacking context
or basic comprehension is no problem. I just wait to (maybe)
be enlightened later.

I know about the dresses, but am ignorant as to the pantses. Did my
running watch show up?

I missed a farm animal and a brat, to name two right off the top of my
head. (I'll think of others as soon as I hit send, the usenet equivalent
of remembering the perfect ripost in the middle of the night, hours after
the party.)

It was you (l'otessa), who enlightened our lives.

Hm. Black. Perhaps your size (not mine). Maybe they're
Courntey's.

Ahah! Just went to check the car, and there it was, merrily
countingdown the nanoseconds (53:59:blur). Just found the
"stop" button at 54:09:(.?)93. Email me your address and I'll
pop it in a mailbox.

Well yes. Definitely. And numerous others including a brash
blonde with rambunctious puppies. That pilot didn't put in
an appearance, despite the threat to divebomb us, neither. I
guess that's my fault, for refusing to divulge the GPS coords.
And what's with that fool's gold dude, missing the *trebuchet*,
of all things.

Anyway, many were missed. *sniff*

I wonder what the perfect date would be next year, so that we
can get them all here?

Oh - *dropped* letters. Why didn't I think of that?
And thanks :)

Well, a great time was had by all. Even the unusual lack of dogs
failed to dampen spirits. Or the somewhat heavy downpours. Other
than the occasional feline jailbreak or trebuchet misfire, all
went according to plan.

Every BoN offers something new, and this one offered a cabin, a
hostess-on-the-roof photo op, and, of course, the trebuchet.
Memories of boinks past- the sculpture has been re-certified as a
eco-friendly "snake habitat". Come to find out, where there's one
hummingbird, there's three.

Food was resplendent and frequent; I'm not sure what all the
types of cheeses were, but the ones I sampled were piquant and
tasty. Was one supposed to eat the rind, or discard it? Is the
rind the best part? or should it be set aside for the chickens?
Or not? No garlic for chickens, that I remember. Can you feed
chickens those little hot peppers and get a head start on some
General Tso's?

Just in case, there were usually two or more EMTs on the
premises, although no ambulance was available this year. Despite
the possibility of Chocolate Overdose, no medical intervention
was actually required.

The trip to the Roomie's Place of Employment was fascinating,
many delightful used books to regret having no time to read. Nice
to see that a small city can support so *many* used bookstores.

The screaming baby in the local coffeeshop made us glad to
return to boink central and the Microphone of Evil.

I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot, but it's already becoming
somewhat of a blur.

It was great seeing everybody who made it, sorry to miss those
who didn't make it, and goodbye and see you soon to those I
missed saying goodbye to.

Yeah, right. If I am the fluff I want to see in the world we've got big
trouble.

Let me just say that there is nothing like liquid nitrogen for pleasing
a four-year-old (either actual or the one inside most of us).

The trebuchet was really great, and I hope it's still there next year so
it can be tinkered with.

Lots of yummy food, only a few people seriously inconvenienced by C's
complete lack of personal-space understanding, great-looking cabin
shell, interesting weather, delightful rummage sale (my apologies for
the microphone of evil; I had thought it had an off switch...)

paul hoping the sourdoughs are happy in their new homes
