Actually, since its gone so quiet, and Pablo is leaving and nobody is here
any more, I was going to say, shall I turn the light out and put the padlock
on and leave it like a time capsule to be found in a hundred years time by
some future civilisation?

Hi Brian,

I somehow knew you would reply.

I really wonder what the newgroup archeologists will determine after
slogging through all the remaining posts. I'm content with my
footprint and wouldn't retract a word of my history.

Funny how those things kill groups. Haven't wanted to comment since.
Had many juicy replies, but feeding a troll is always bad.

Well some people do take things too seriously sometimes and after all if you
cannot have good natured banter what the heck are we here for.
as for the future, I'd not be so worried were it not for the problem that
all the fori (plural or forum?) not on servers in the control of basically
big business, and plugs can more easily pulled, and personal data
compromised much easier than on usenet generally.

I myself have issues with the forum mainly due to the awkwardness of
having differing interfaces in each one to get used to and no client that
levels the playing field as with email and news, for the blind whoo cannot
use touch or mice.
Its the lack of an overview of the page that causes the problem of course.
I'd not want to hold progress back however but I do feel its fragmented the
community with so many different sites and the inability to crosspost to a
couple or so when its needed.

I'd like to see someone reinvent usenet via a forum system, no not like
Google did as that is a nightmare, which brings me back to the future time
capsule unearthing. Will Google be the only way to view the archive?

as for troll posts, now, there are and always will be mischievous
individuals and I feel we should accept and welcome such innovative
posters..

ducks behind sofa.
