Chimeras can be a set of twins fused into one body. They have two
sets of DNA.
They don't really know how rare the condition is. Maybe people born
in the wrong body are a male/female set of twins.
CSI had a show about this condition.
I would guess that all hermaphrodites are chimeras.

thought I had. Nothing to back it up.

Are you sure that they do test for chimera in sex change operations?

I have never read where they explain hemaphrodites as chimeras.
Like I have said, I don't know. I would be interested in hearing

Hermaphrodites are not always chimeras; they have both male and female
sexual organs. This is due to the hormones exposed to during preganancy
and not because they have a `twin' within them.
