Is anyone interested in/ researching the BEST family in
Washington Co., Pennsylvania?
John BEST and wife Catherine MILLER settled in Washington
County, Pennsylvania in the 1700's. The land patented by
John Best was he called "Bestbury" and it was on Buffalo
Creek.
John BEST died 1795 and Catherine MILLER about 1814.
This couple had seven children:
1. Nancy BEST

m. John CASEBEER
This family moved to Tuscaraws Co., Ohio
They had 11 children: Elizabeth, John Jr., David,
Pleasant, Mary, Anna, Andrew S., Catherine, Adam,
Jacob, and Hannah. (I can trace from John Jr. down
to my Grandmother, Jenne Lind Casebeer)
2. John BEST, Jr.
m. Christania

3. Samuel BEST
d. 5/25/1816 Tuscarawas County, Ohio
m. Agnes Casebeer, sister of John CASEBEER, above.
They had 5 children (mentioned in Samuel's will): Sally,
Absolem, Zacharias, Henry, and Nancy.
4. Adam BEST

5. Mary C. BEST
m. Henry SMITH

6. Elizabeth BEST

I have a copy of Samuel BEST's will, as well a copy of
some typewritten pages (about 40) entitled BEST FAMILY
GENEALOGY 1795-1941. The book is really more anecdotes of
the BEST family followed by a tracking of thier land,
BESTBURY, down through the years as it changed hands.
If anyone is interested in this information, or can provide
me with more information on this family, please e-mail me
