The Term ZOMI

By Zomi for the Federalization and Democratization of Burma

Those who live in Tedim Township and Tonzang Township call themselves
Zomi. They are known by outsiders as Chin, or Kuki.

Myanmar was known by the British as Burma, and by French as Birmanie.
But the name of the country has been changed to Myanmar by the Brutal
Bamar Buddhist Fascist Mercenary Terrorist Rapist Government back in
1989.

Some other countries and cities also changed their names to what they
call themselves: Rhodesia to Zimbabawe, Ceylon to Sri Lanka, Persia to
Iran, Calcutta to Kolkatta, Bombay to Mumbai, etc.

So, what is the basis of your objection to our name? This is what we
always call ourselves by.

Well thanks for that explanation.

Hitherto I thought Zomi was the name of a person who was in favour of
federalisation and democratisation.
