The Little Book of Magical Creatures by Elizabeth Pepper & Barbara
Stacy 2009 The Witches Almanac, Ltd. ISBN: 978-0-9773703-9-9
178 pages Paperback $12.95 (U.S.) www.TheWitchesAlmanac.com

An update of a classic (Magical Creatures), this volume includes the
addition of myths from far and wide. While this is not a
comprehensive work (after all, the title is The Little Book of Magical
Creatures), it does contain a fair sampling of creatures domestic,
wild, and fanciful.

This is the sort of book I wish had been available when my children
were much younger. It isnt fairy tales, but is a nice collection of
stories relating to the animal inhabitants of our world. Its the
sort of book children would enjoy dipping into from time to time.

There are numerous animals which could have been included in it, but
that would have defeated the purpose of making it a little book.
Instead, the authors have chosen a good representation and sought out
information which may be unknown to a majority of readers. They have
succeeded in producing a book which is a joy to explore.

I always enjoy books from The Witches Almanac Ltd. This one, like all
I have seen, is well produced and I expect that it will hold up for
the long haul. I am happy to add it to my library, and I think you
will be as well.
