Peace,

Online Quran Reading (OQR) is a new list to be found at, http://OQR.ListBot.com, where you can join too. But before doing so, please read the following about our objectives and rules.

As far as I know, we are by God's grace and leave the only Internet list that studies the book of God from cover to cover. We are but putting in practice aya 4:82 in order to become like those who know Quran as they they know their own children (2:146). After all, we should not desert Quran at all (2:30). We wish to all new comers, who will join after reading this, a pleasant journey among us. OQR list is from its members and for them.

OQR started on January 01, 2000 (Ramadan 24, 1420). Our aim is to go thru the whole Quran, Gw, in less than two years. Each Thursday, a portion of Quran is assigned to be read during a week. A weekly assignment consists of reading consecutive ayat within seven pages in the Arabic Quran, according to the wide spread print of King Fahd of Saudi. It makes it an average of one page to be read daily. Each one is encouraged and supposed to read these ayat using his/her preferred translation(s) and/or the Arabic
text. Then, (s)he is welcomed and encouraged to post to the list at O...@ListBot.com his/her comments/questions/insights. Our weekly assignments run from Fridays to Thursdays. The choice of Friday as a starting day is easy to remember. While all members are welcomed and encouraged to participate, challenging the divinity of Quran, or promoting any other religious sources besides Quran are not allowed. Our only focus of study is Quran, the common book among all Muslims.

The story of Moses with one of the servants of God in sura 18, ayat 60 thru 82, teaches us a great deal of humbleness. OQR members should then have it always in their minds, especially among the outspoken of them. Whenever we think that we reach the Right understanding of some ayat, we should keep in mind that there might be some better understanding hold by somebody else. This someone could be here among the members of OQR list, including the honorable silent majority, as well as somewhere else. Therefore
, tolerance, patience, and compassion are in order.

There are no students and teachers among us in this list. We are all but students of the Book of God. Let us then, sisters and brothers, share our knowledge as well as our ignorance about the book of God. May God bless us and show us how to worship and serve Him better. Here a summary of some technicalities to keep in mind before you join.

1. OQR is focused on systematic Quran study from cover to cover. Please, keep your main focus on the weekly assignments, and avoid cross posting to other lists when posting. If anyone feels the need to share with the list members something outside OQR, (s)he should send it to me personally, as moderator, and not to the list. I will see if it is relevant or not to OQR.

2. Sanctions will be issued against anyone who does not abide by OQR rules. These sanctions range from posting apologies to the list, restriction to post to the list for a short period of time, up to a definitive removal altogether without a possibility to subscribe again. However, I am pretty sure that we all will try our best to make this blessed project work fine, as that we are not going to need these sanctions at all.

3. OQR is a free will list. Anyone can subscribe easily at OQR website, "http://OQR.ListBot.com". Also, anyone can unsubscribe easily at any time by going to OQR website. In fact, every post is annexed with a small message of how to be removed from the list.

4. It is a good idea to refer to OQR archive to have a test of what this list is about. It is at: http://OQR.ListBot.com

I hope you will join us in our OQR journey. Indeed, it is a warm one you'll remember.
