What is Salvation?
|
| |
The call to unity thread has turned into a discussion about what is salvation. As I understand the discussion, one thought is that it doesn't really exist since we are all eternal. It's just a matter of drawing near to God. Another point of view is that is exactly what salvation is. Okay, that's me paraphrasing and shortening a lot.... more »

A Call to Religious Unity - The Baha'i Faith
|
| |
A Call to Religious Unity - The Baha'i Faith "The Baha'i message is a call to religious unity and not an invitation to a new religion, not a new path to immortality. God forbid! It is the ancient path cleared of the debris of imaginations and superstitions of men, of the debris of strife and... more »

Vegetarian or carnivore?

A Baha'i who was reading The Summons of the Lord of Hosts found this passage: "Say: O concourse of priests and monks! Eat ye of that which God hath made lawful unto you and do not shun meat. (Baha'u'llah, The Summons of the Lord of Hosts, p. 80) He took this to mean that we are supposed to eat meat. And yet there... more »

Nine modes of revelation
|
| |
Baha'u'llah says in The Summons of the Lord of Hosts that He has used nine different modes of revelation: 51 Say: We have revealed Our verses in nine different modes. Each one of them bespeaketh the sovereignty of God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. A single one of them sufficeth for a proof unto all who are in the heavens and on the earth; yet the people, for the most part, persist in their heedlessness. Should it be Our wish, We would reveal them in countless other modes.... more »

We are back!

Dear friends. The bcca.org server that runs this newsgroup - email list had a very serious crash the beginning of this month. The volunteer system managers who maintain it spent the last 3 weeks getting it restored and running. If you tried to post anything to soc.religion.bahai through a news client or by email, it may have been lost so if possible send it... more »

God has granted me a great website:
|

worldreligionbible.com which is designed to prove the Oneness of Religion and to give any Baha'is who want it, the tool to understand and teach that Third Basic Principle of Baha'u'llah. It is also designed to encourage spiritual discussion on the discussion board. The Home Page gives hundreds of short quote, often almost word for word similar from Religion to Religion, that really prove all the Teachings come from God. I've done surveys among Jews, Christians, Muslims and none of them can even list three most important teaching in their religion as demonstrated by these commonalities. These quotes fill me with awe to realize the DEPTH of the Oneness of Religion. But, to understand the depth, one must really read the whole text provided.... more »

Universal House of Justice Ridvan Message 2010: A Context
|
| |
I posted an introduction to the paradigmatic shift in the Baha’i community, the new culture of learning and growth that is at the heart of this paradigm, nearly three years ago. I did this posting at several internet sites and have revised that post in these last three years as developments in the paradigm have come about, as new messages... more »

Flexibility on Bahai laws. Is low alcohol wine allowed?
|
| |
Hi, on a bored moment. I just thought Id post this. I was offered fruit wine by some orthodox monastry residents. It tasted like fruit juice. Can 2% or 1% perry be considered alcoholic? (Bahai man whom I caught drinking a can of beer informed me it was 2% low alcohol beer only)

The Universality of the Laws
|
| |
Hi all, I'm looking for Baha'i input on the universality of the laws revealed by Baha'u'llah. I'm wondering if any of you others feel similarly to how I do on this subject and what insights you may have. I became a Baha'i just over a year ago after a long period of study. I believe passionately in the Faith's vision of the oneness of... more »
