Lebanon LOdges

I have been following this somewhat mute discussion and I have a
feeling that non of the GL involved have an idea of what is really
going on.
In Montreal there are ( were?) .

perhaps as many as 5 lodges that spawned out of Lebanon.
In discussing the matter with one of the members, it turns out that in
Lebanon for many years the Grand Orient of France had a fair amount of
influence and chartered many lodges. ( French being the main language
in business).
GLOS also had 2 lodges in Beirut.
Some of the gentelman joined mainstream lodges in MOntreal and and
some started un affiliated lodges in Montreal, more for the purpose of
business networking then the study or ceremonies of masonry as we know
it.

There are very few lodges in the middle east outside of Israel, and I
would surmise from personally talking to some brothers from that area,
that due to the politics and political situation, we are not very
welcome in many countires in that area,

You would think that since Hiram Abiff was from south of Lebanon (Tyre),
they would have more Lodges there.
I guess the era have changed now...
