Speaking of fake news stories
  The spin is that Sarah Palin "Quit" or "Ran off" on hundreds of adoring fans, leaving them in the cold, refusing to sign there books. One "Blog" I read placed the number at 300, plus their friends and family. The L.A. times is reporting 100 people who never got face time with Sarah: [link]... more »

Soaps
  I'm discovering that it is really difficult to re-enter the world of a soap opera after a 26 year absence. That's my situation with General Hospital (which I did watch compulsively in the early 1980s when the youthful John Stamos was making his mark as Blackie Parrish) once I found out that my favorite living actor, James... more »

Today's Trivial Tom Brady Item
  Antoinette Kelly reports on Irish Central: Tom Brady won't let Gisele Bundchen choose his clothes. The American football star doesn't understand why some men don't make their own fashion choices and also blasted the style of other sportsmen. "I think any man who lets a woman pick what he should wear ... I mean,... more »

Yes, sometimes a cigar *is* just a cigar, but...
  Fox Soccer Channel just aired a new (to me, at least) commercial for Las Vegas. A group is gathered around a large-screen TV playing a video will. The deceased reads off a list of expensive assets, ending with an Italian villa, all of it being left to "John, for reasons that John will understand." Everyone turns around and looks to the back of... more »

Once or twice a year...
  I cook a butterball. plus some mashed potatoes, and green beans, and gravy, and stuffing, and my housemate makes sweet potatoes at thanksgiving. This year I'm making pearl onions. No pie. We're on a diet. Then I get to make soup and freeze it.

Yo, Dennis;
  Like I told you, they made a conscious decision to run against Sarah Palin instead, as in this case, their actual opposition in congress: ...[link] Sarah Palin is not in office. The GOP opposition to healthcare is in the congress -- the House and Senate -- and Sarah Palin is not one of them.... more »

QaF update (no spoilers)
  Remember Queer as Folk (QaF), Showtime's ...So where are all the copycats? I mean, it's not like Showtime owned "Gay" as a trademark, and never before in the history of television has a successful series NOT been copied. So where are all the copycats? It's not like a new series would suffer from the... more »

Let's go out to the lobby...
  If this ain't a kick in the gut -- all this time we'd have been better off getting a "movie pack" of candy than a bag of popcorn. I just happen to have "movie pack" boxes of Butterfinger Minis and Buncha Crunch that I bought for $1 with AMC Moviewatcher coupons but didn't eat while watching "Paranormal Activity" and "Ajab Prem Ki... more »

Rosie hits a nerve with comment about Oprah and Gayle
  Out comic Rosie O'Donnell is on Oprah Winfrey's bad side from a comment she made about the talk-show queen on Howard Stern's satellite radio program. Irish Central columnist Buzz Brady recounts: During an exchange with Stern, O'Donnell said: "I think [Oprah's] never been married and she's exceptionally close to Gayle [King]. I... more »
