So where are all the copycats?
I mean, it's not like Showtime owned "Gay" as
a trademark, and never before in the history of
television has a successful series NOT been
copied.
So where are all the copycats?
It's not like a new series would suffer from the
comparison. After all, there aren't too many
people unimaginative enough to match QaF's
writing style, and there are none (outside of
comas) who could do worse.
Showtime's QaF itself was a copy of the much superior British tv
series with the same name...incidentally starring Charlie Hunam who
now is the lead on the fine American series Sons of Anarchy.

The L Word, also a Showtime series, did the same for Lesbians, and
hasn't been copied. Maybe Showtime *does* own "Gay" as a trademark.

Yeah, well I was always one of those people (a
minority, I suppose) who thought that Randy Harrison
was the more boinkable of the two... by far.
Part of Hunnam's appeal was that he really was still
a teen when he took the British QaF part.
I don't know about where you come from, but around
here it's shitloads easier coming across as young &
humpy when you really are young.
Hunnam was 19 when he did the British series, or at
least by the time it aired, while Harrison was already
22 when the American QaF hit the small screen.

Or maybe Hollywood is as fucked up as people suggest.
So what happened to the soc.motssers in the industry?
Why haven't you people made a pitch yet?
