There are many kinds of anti-democratic government ranging from civil
dictatorships, both oppressive and benevolent to violent military
governments. However, one version of oppression is preferred by clusters of
cronycapitalists or nodes of cronycapitalism, because of its proven
persistence/stability. It is called "democracy" and although this usage does
not match dictionary definitions or citizens' use of the word, the label
remains. Democracy means self government and in contrast, modern
'democracies' are elaborate schemes of rule by cronycapitalist networks that
maintain an effective illusion of democracy, while practising various blends
of cronycapitalism and herd management. A more accurate label for modern
forms of this type of government is therefore pseudo-democracy.

Totalitarian dictatorships govern through fear. Pseudo-democracies govern
through patronage networks and mass media propagated spun illusions of
unreality. Neither gives people freedom from manipulation/exploitation.
While it is safer to display an independent mind under a pseudo-democracy
because the government will usually only use overt physical violence against
you as a last resort, personal and societal costs in terms of wasted/misused
human talent and other resources are the same. The ruled, under both systems
can usually escape their chains in very rare circumstances and with the help
of external forces that disrupt spirals of human underdevelopment. That's
why pseudo-democracy is the method of government preferred by the most canny
elites.

A totalitarian dictatorship does not hide its true agenda. It silences free
speech with the concentration camp or the gun. The pseudo-democracy uses a
much more effective method, it goes right to the root. By contriving
underdevelopment and controlling the underdeveloped minds of its citizens,
need to silence what they say is evaded, the masses never fail to repeat
what they are told, and new ideas, radical ways of thinking, and other
potential problems for the ruling class do not surface. To make up for the
loss of stimulation and inventive thought, the masses are given a diet of
entertainment to feed their starved minds. Standard cerebral diet is an
ample supply of 'news'casts, soaps, and action dramas containing the
violence and sexual objects of their dreams. Citizens are distracted from
misgovernment going on all around them, but always just out of view behind a
screen of unreality spun by mass communications media.

'Education' is key to the system's long-term success. Indoctrination with
normative ideas is essential to build ideal citizens from potentially
dangerous, free-thinking young people. Party-constructed lies must always
become the agreed upon truth. Most importantly, freedom must be made to seem
real and self-evident, because any deep investigation turns up unfree
reality. To achieve this end, the fiction of political progress must
constantly be highlighted. Voting, always elusive reforms, and cleaning up
the currently demonised hate object must be seen as (the only) avenues
leadings to the ideal society.

The media in a pseudo-democracy is a vital instrument of thought control.
Ideas favourable to the party agenda are encouraged and repeated without
much variation by all major newspapers and television broadcasts.
Alternative explanations and other forms of truth are ignored or the author
discredited. At no time can overt censorship be used. Long practice has
shown that it is much more effective to manoeuvre purveyors of truth/reality
into the role of fringe extremists. Despite intellectual genius and
justification for ideas, they are misrepresented as no match for the ideas
of 'respected' opinion makers. This respect for conformity is a creation of
the media, and as such is always bestows respect upon individuals favourable
to the party agenda. Those who refuse to play the game of organised gang
("party") domination, are technically allowed to run for office but
misrepresented by the mass media as protest candidates, support for whom
would be a wasted vote. Meanwhile, the two major parties are really one and
the same. They are both patronised by anti-communitarian big business and
collectively promote the anti-democratic agenda of people
control/exploitation and cronycapitalism.

During times of war, where honest media coverage is most vital, every single
media company repeats verbatim the propaganda they are given by the
government. Sometimes the media gets out of hand and reports information
unfavourable to the establishment's agenda as it did in America during
Vietnam, but such incidents are merely lessons to be learned from, case
studies for the government to examine, in order to determine more effective
methods of herd management. The fact that post-event facts prove previous
media coverage biased or even blatantly inaccurate is not the issue. By the
time this happens, the bodies have long since been buried and there are
other more important issues for the media to concentrate on. Despite
superficial evidence seemingly to the contrary, mass media is effectively
State controlled and the line between ソス?odemocracyソス?ソス and totalitarianism is
blurred under careful examination.

Under a pseudo-democratic regime, freedom and individual liberty are lauded
in theory, but derogated in practice. The State is portrayed as
freedom-loving and a "beacon of democracy"ソス. But when forces threaten the
status-quo, there is no hesitation about implementing institutionalised
violation of the rights of the people. Only when trafficking/terrorism
become adversaries of the establishment agenda, must they be eliminated.
Individual liberties must then be eroded to preserve freedom and security.
The same goes for the free market. Cronycapitalism must always be glorified.
Intervention by the government into the affairs of companies is portrayed as
damaging, unless it is to bail out cronies in accordance with the parameters
of the crony capitalist system. Tariffs and other forms of trade control are
disallowed, except when protecting crony owned/controlled businesses from
foreign competition. This huge discrepancy between theory and reality are a
trademark of the pseudo-democracy's scheme of promoting the agreed-upon
truth.

Pseudo-democracies' history of foreign meddling is direct evidence of
persistent and institutionalised, determined anti-democratic resistance
towards citizen-chosen democratic governments. Throughout the world,
wherever the people took control of their government, military power was
used to restore 'order'. In other words, to replace the duly-elected popular
leaders with those more favourable to the continuation of global crony
capitalist domination and non-democratic practices more in line with those
utilised by crony capitalist regimes dominated by oligopolies
(concentrations of too much capital/power in too few hands).

In order for pseudo-democracies to remain viable, democracies must always be
eliminated. The media must portray popular communitarian movements that
manage to take control of their governments as oppressive, violent, and not
the will of the people. Any social progress that these so-called
anti-democratic regimes achieve is misrepresented and the mass media 'news'
is all about the new (progressive) foreign government's hostility towards
the 'free' world's attempts to force them back into the mould of a
pseudo-democracy.

Pseudo-democracy and cronycapitalism are an inherently unstable political
and economic systems. Resources become concentrated and the system paranoid.
Great time and energy is expended to keep the entire system from caving in
on itself. The haves can never sleep with both eyes closed, so long as the
have-nots may come looking for their fair share. In the global sense, this
means that true democracies are always crushed and replaced with
anti-democratic governments. Cronycapitalism fears rule by the people. It
uses doublespeak like 'mob rule'ソス and 'the uneducated masses' (who are
indeed uneducated but deliberately kept so by the self-serving organised
gang that is responsible for the dysfunctional characteristic of state
education systems) to make sure direct voting does not occur. The limited
political freedom (to chose between two of the same) given in
pseudo-democracies is a complete fabrication, designed to make the system
seem self-evidently free while in fact it is anything but.

The most progressive political system at this stage of our evolution,
equipped as we are with enabling technologies and related unrestricted flows
of information, is true democracy. The people, acting in self-interest,
will, if fully informed, always over time make the best decisions for their
own government. The reason why such a system is not implemented, in an age
where technical barriers have vanished, is that transnational tribes of
crony capitalist reactionaries fear this type of government and make every
effort to destroy it wherever it evolves. At this time, when someone hangs
out the flag of a pseudo-democracy in celebration of "freedom", it is either
a celebration of cerebral slavery, or a very short-lived phenomenon. Only
when the people rule can a system deserve the descriptor 'free'. When the
people break out of a spiral of underdevelopment and take power back from
cronycapitalist patronage systems, then the world will be a relatively just
prosperous and peaceful place in which we can evolve towards an intelligent
future.

The author left "Republic" out of the list.

Uh, no. "Democracy" means mob rule. Just about every
innovation in government that is labeled "anti-democratic"
was, for better or worse, instituted in order to prevent
mob rule.

The only kind of freedom that the mob can imagine
is freedom to annoy and oppress its betters,
and that is precisely the kind that we mainly have.
