It is truly a complex and confusing time in which we live. In fact it may be
an understatement.

Take for example the following:

The other evening I watched an hour long documentary on exotic cats, I think
somewhere in Arkansas. The main plot was a family that kept exotic cats and
a woman who fought to have them removed. I thought, why would anyone
consider making a documentary on an exotic cat issue? That aside, a brief
segment dealt with a divorced, non-custodial father of a nine year-old girl
who's mother and boyfriend purchased two Bengal tigers as pets. The father
could do nothing about it and sadly the little girl was eventually mauled
and killed by the tigers.

I thought, that be what the documentary ought to be about. Then it occurred
to me, maybe that brief segment was the actual point behind the documentary
since an hour long film about fathers unable to protect their children would
likely never make it to air. (Think of a Jewish sympathizer making a film
during Nazi Germany.)

Indeed it appears things have become even more complex than we can sometimes
imagine. I am even leaning toward a right of centre view these days as a
result of the conflict in Lebanon and the apparent lack of criticism toward
Israel. The truth maybe that it is extremely unwise to be critical of Israel
even when some Israelis are critical of their current administration.
